Publisher's summary

Undaunted by a threatening storm, Fitzwilliam Darcy of Pemberley insists he must deliver his letter to Miss Elizabeth Bennet - then tragedy strikes. Riddled with guilt, Elizabeth comes to the aid of the comatose Mr. Darcy and stays by his side until he regains consciousness. She soon learns that although Mr. Darcy has awoken, he has not returned to himself. And with no memory of his first disastrous proposal, he has concluded that there is nothing he wants more than to propose to Miss Elizabeth. This humorous journey of love leaves one asking, can persistence pacify prejudice? Can Elizabeth see the real gentleman behind the injury, a man who persists in professing his love to her every chance he gets? In this regency variation of Jane Austen's beloved Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet both learn the value of persistence.

Lovely P & P Variation 😊

I am a huge Jane Austen fan and revisit her books quite often. I especially love Pride & Prejudice and periodically read new variations to reconnect with the characters and settings that I love so much. 💜

This P&P variation is delightful and very respectful of the original story and characters. Yes, this story is reminiscent of the movie "50 first dates" but it has its own twists and new characters that kept it fresh and interesting. It's truly a breath of fresh air for all Pride and Prejudice fans!

The narration is exquisite. Nancy Peterson makes this book come alive with her accents, inflections, and clear tone. There isn't a character in this book that doesn't have a unique voice. She has a God given talent that is a joy to listen to. 👏

I highly recommend this to those who enjoy Jane.Austen books! 🌠

50 First Proposals

No there aren't really 50, but I wouldn't want to spoil the real number. The concept really is P&P meets 50 First Dates, though. Mr. Darcy plagued with "memory problems" cannot remember his disastrous proposal in Kent yet finds himself continually waking in that annoying parson's home injured and under the care of the one woman he has determined he must propose to. It is Elizabeth's perspective we share though as she must decide where the balance is to be struck between propriety and the care of a man she finds to be continually changing. Or is it simply her understanding of the man that changes.?
The story populated by a variety of new characters that the author invented to fill the plot device of Mr. Darcy's injury and having the setting in Kent, where many original characters are not present. This is one of my criticisms of the story. characters like Charlotte and Anne DeBurg are all but absent and most of our time is spent with very likable, but new, faces. It keeps this variation on fresh ground compared to others, however, it also seems like the easy way out. As opposed to reinventing long standing characters in a unique way.
Lady Catherine's story got just such a treatment and I found myself never quite sure who she was or what her real motives were until the end. In conclusion, I found this variation much more worth my Credit than other P&P variations I've bought on a whim and much better presented than some. I would recommend this to those followers of JAFF.

A worthwhile P&P Variation/

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

There are many, many P&P variations out there. This was well done. Plain and simple.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I would want to listen and read all P&P variations in one sitting! I love P&P and truly enjoy Austen fan fiction to read other's take on plausible variations. I don't like when authors change P&P characters a lot -- somethings must be maintained as Miss Austen originally created!

Persistence Pays Off

Pride and Persistence takes Pride and Prejudice in a whole new direction. Pride and Persistence takes place after Elizabeth has rejected Mr. Darcy's proposal to her. In this version, Mr. Darcy tried to win back Elizabeth's hand except he gets injured while delivering a letter to Elizabeth.

Throughout this story, Mr. Darcy proposed to Elizabeth's each day without remembering that he has already proposed to Elizabeth the day before. With the help of Colonel Fitzwilliam, Madeline, the nurse in charge of Darcy's care, and Mrs Wilkinson, the Collins's cook, and the good doctor, Elizabeth might be able to see the man that Mr. Darcy is truly is.

Elizabeth stills has to deal with Lady Catherine and Mr. Collins who wants to keep her from Mr. Darcy. It is a great revelation in discovering Lady Catherine's past. Mr. Collins still remains and is a self-righteous pompous ass and lapdog for Lady Catherine.

The narrator, Nancy Peterson delivers a wonderful narration of the story for Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. This is a variation of Pride and Prejudice that readers/listeners are going to enjoy listening. The audiobook gives the perfect personalities of the characters and especially the voice for Elizabeth.

I was given this audiobook by the author/narrator/publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated or influenced in any way for writing this review.

Wonderfull....

I read Pride and Persistence when it first came out and loved it. I am a person who is in constant motion (work, travel, gym, etc) and listen to a lot of audiobooks, so anytime I can get a audio version of a book I loved, I jump on it. The story is unique, in a nutshell Darcy has an accident and "forgets" the previous day(s) which leads him to "do overs" each day until he gets it right. I won't give away the story but to say that it is wonderful. An addition to a great book the narrator, Nancy Peterson, really put the cherry on top of this wonderful story. Her narration is spot on, absolutely phenomenal !

A fun and Different Variation

This story is a fun variation that diverges after Darcy's proposal in Kent. There are trials and there is angst in this story. Mr. Collins is more unappealing in this story than in the original. Lady Catherine is so underhanded that I dislike her more. Elizabeth is in between a rock and a hard place when she helps to care for Mr. Darcy, after his injury. She has the same feeling for him after the disastrous proposal, but is the only one whom he trusts and who can calm him. They spend many hours and days together at Hunsford parsonage, of all places. There are a few new characters, the nurse, the doctor, and the cook. Georgiana shows up.

The narrator's performance was beautiful. This is the first time I have heard her narrate. Her accents for the cook and the nurse were well done. Her inflections brought out nuances of the dialogue between the characters that I missed when reading the book. I enjoyed her narration, especially how she voiced Mr. Collins; that made me laugh out loud.

I recommend this story and narration to anyone who enjoys JAFF and Regency Romances.

This book was based on Jane Austin's "Pride and Prejudice" but was revised with a fan

fiction twist.

I thought that Elizabeth and Darcy were cute together.

The characters were well written and the plot kept me entertained.

I don't want to give too much away, but, overall, this book was definitely a Good Read.

Nancy Peterson did really well with the narration.
