RUIN Was My Point of Breaking

This novel is very good, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I loved the H and h, even though they were both flawed and made some mistakes. I felt that their actions were realistic for a couple of early 20's college kids in their situations. I liked the intrigue and the sheer evilness of the ex and his minions. It was different and wholly entertaining, and I highly recommend it as a written work.

I very much like the narrator's tone and her voices, and most of the time, I have absolutely no problem with her performance. She's quite good. Sometimes, a narrator pronounces something a little off, and it's no big deal. Had the authors used the word "destroyed" more often in this book, I would not hesitate to give Valerie Gilbert 4 solid stars for her narration. Unfortunately, the authors chose the word "ruin," a 2-syllable word, about 3 dozen times, and VG pronounces it with just 1 syllable as "rune." Over. and. over. and. over. "I'm RUNED." He will RUNE me." "If I wanted to RUNE you, I could in a second." "Fine. RUNE me." I AM sorry, but that loses a star for me.

Granted, I am easily distracted by mispronunciations, and MANY other people are not, but those who are should be warned so they can read an awesome, well-written book themselves and not dislike the work because they had a problem with the listen. Believe it or not, I really do not like to give criticism, and I feel terrible about the lady who pronounced wolf as WOOF in the werewolf book and the lady who said MEER instead of mirror dozens of times in another one because, truly, mispronouncing wolf, mirror or ruin is only a big deal when they are read over and over. I can take a few instances, and it is just bad luck that VG got a book with so many instances of the word "ruin." I can't just blame the performers for this. There REALLY needs to be a sound editor/producer/engineer whose job it is to double check pronunciation and proof the recording prior to the finished product being released.

I received this audiobook for free in exchange for an unbiased review. The number of stars I award in the 5-star rating system is based on where I believe this audiobook rates with other audiobooks of the same type, length and general feel-- not where it rates in comparison to all audiobooks of all time.

Overall the story was good!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to a friend. The story was good and it had some hotness to it. I can't say that I agreed with eveything but hey I always think that someone does something stupid in these stories. The crazy thing is that we normally do stupid things in real life all the time so nothing that the characters did stopped this book from being good. The narration was pretty good. This book was given to me for my honest opinion and I thought this was a genuinely well written and well narrated story.
