Publisher's summary

Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller Lick.

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn't plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn't count on finding the one right girl. Anne Rollins never thought she'd ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn't end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

This audiobook includes an excerpt from the first book in Kylie Scott's new Dive Bar series, Dirty.

A really fun style of writing!!

Where does Play rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I don't write a lot of reviews. A book has to be REALLY good for me to take the time to do so. This book is up there with one of my best reads!

What did you like best about this story?

It had the perfect mix of comedy and romance. There was really no angst, crazy love triangles or evil villains. It was funny with great characters with just enough steamy times.

Which character – as performed by Andi Arndt – was your favorite?

Mel!!!!! By far was just the best and funniest character.

Any additional comments?

This series is great! The first book was just as good as this one.. I can't wait for the next one.

Better than the First!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The first one (Lick) was good; but, this one was so much better. Mal, while pained, is a hoot. I love the banter between him and Anne.

Hopefully there will be more installments to come. Preferably with Ben and Nick's characters.

Definitely worth the credit or just outright buy it.

Great Book to Get Away

Would you consider the audio edition of Play to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version but highly recommend the book in either audio or print!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mal, of course! Strong Alpha Males take my heart every time. Mal is different, he is light hearted, fun, sweet. It's was a pleasant change from my normal reads/listens!

What about Andi Arndt’s performance did you like?

She is a well rounded narrator. She does a great job telling a story. You can feel the emotion as you listen and she does a great job switching from characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I don't think it's an extreme book but it was funny and enjoyable!

Awesome story. Only wish the male in the stories was a male voice. Female narrator does a really good job

Funny, Sexy and Heartfelt

I didn't know what to expect when I purchased this book. A few audioheads kept talking about Mal and I wanted to know more...And that, to say the least, was the best decision I made this week.

Scott's rock romance story is really my first. i didn't start with LICK, I started PLAY by accident. What I found was an interesting story about 2 people who were in pain and had no idea how to heal. Each with varying circumstances, they come together and use an "agreement" as a temporary fix. During the stage of fixing, the relationship grew into more of course, but the issue of not knowing how to handle the problems causing the pain remains on the surface.

Because I don't want to retell the blurb or ruin the story, I will say I loved the writing style. I seriously laughed so hard at the things that darted out of Mal's mouth. I mean he is just hilarious. Ann, had her own spunk and I love that she did not back down when faced with a challenge. The challenge being Mal.

Scott was able to write this story with full understanding and compassion of what I imagine it would feel like for someone to be in their situations. Not only did I find myself weeping in certain parts, but also pure, unadulterated laughter found its way to my soul. in fact, I don't think I've laughed so hard. And the SEX...yum 😊

Anyone looking to read something with a good plot and strong characters should give it a listen/read.

Andi Arndt is fabulous and I loved her narration of Ann and Mal. She has a way of giving each character a voice. what she did with Mal should be in a museum lol.

My Two Pennies

Andi Arndt is on FIRE with this narration! Once again the passion and love poured into the voices keeps you wanting to listen and never stop. I was rocking out with book 1 “Lick” but “Play”, Mal & Anne’s story is my favorite one yet. No one usually notices the drummer in the band but Mal is just so damn funny and caring I adore him. Anne comes to meet him unexpectedly and of course Mal is just his usual speak his mind self and decides Anne is his “pumpkin”. Their story is filled with passion, laughter and so much more. This man is talented and caring and will definitely keep you on your toes with his antics. This is a standalone in a series but I suggest you read them all and get to know each member of Stage Dive individually, you won’t regret it. Love love loved this story can’t wait to see what’s in store next in “Lead” book 3.
