Publisher's summary

A prank war erupts in Lake Sackett, Georgia, and coroner Frankie McCready has to turn to the gorgeous but surly new sheriff for help in Molly Harper's newest Southern Eclectic novella, perfect for fans of Kristan Higgins and Amy E. Reichert.

The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack's ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family's business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.

Linden, who didn't seem to get the memo about men in uniform and Southern charm, is condescending and cold, revealing absolutely nothing about his past as an Atlanta police officer, while also making Frankie's job as coroner as difficult as possible. And with the town's Fourth of July celebration coming up, it's essential for McCready's to be cricket-free and in good working order. Strangling the sheriff will make her job even harder. Can Frankie hold off the threats to preserve her own sanity?

With her trademark "clever humor, snark, silliness, and endearing protagonists" (Booklist), Molly Harper invites fans to return to the family they first met in Sweet Tea and Sympathy. Y'all sit down and stay a while, won't you?

Short Novella

This book is the pre-quell for “Ain’t She a Peach”. I would have preferred that it be combined with that book because this one is so short. It wasn’t a full story - just the start of one.

another way to short audiobook!

Another way to short audiobook by Molly Harbor even at a discounted price! Seriously... so many of her books could be put under one title. Took me longer than expected to get through only 8 chapters, not sure if it just wasn't keeping my attention or I was trying to savor it because I knew it was so short...

Sass, Snark, and Dead Bodies

Love Molly Harper and Amanda Ronconi. Sometimes they are the only reason I can get through the day.

Wait... what?

It’s like half a book! Where’s the rest of the story?? It’s not even a cliff hanger. There’s no rose in suspense... the only good thing is the characters. What a strange choice. Now I have to buy the next book just to complete the minor stories started in this one. I feel like I got the shake down.

??

What was the point of a half story like this that was sold as a full price book? It wasn't a supplemental novel, it is a short story that picks back up in the next full length book! I've been following this author for years and this book was either placed in the wrong placement, as far as order, or this was a lazy script! Both Google and Audible have this book as the third book in this series...?

Left Wanting

Great book, as usual, but it ended on a couple cliff hangers. I did not feel like the story finished. I hope the next book answers the questions that I have.

this is not a romance book

disappointed by the story, it looks like the author chopped up a book and decided to sell it separately it's more of a comedy than romance

This isn't a book - it's a prologue

When the "book" ended and the credits started playing, I thought that I'd missed downloading a second part. Obviously I hadn't read the reviews. This should be billed as a .5 book as it's clearly a teaser for the next book. Love Molly and Amanda, but getting this part-of-a-story without a conclusion seems like a slap to loyal readers.

disappointed

Molly Harper is one of my favorite authors and I normally buy her books right after they released. This book was only a half of a book. it wasn't worth the money or the time. it wasn't nearly as humorous as her past books and I wouldn't bother buying it.
