Publisher's summary

After the incident in Iraq, I found myself at the end of my rope, contemplating the taste of my 9mm. That's when he found me; they found me.

The Boneyard Brotherhood took me in, gave me purpose. My life became about my bike, my brothers, my freedom. But there was still something missing; something I needed but couldn't put my finger on.

That something came walkin' in the door of our club, wantin' to serve papers to Teddy, the man who brought me to the Brotherhood. She was meek, conservative, shy. What she didn't know was that she was also going to be mine.

Once I laid eyes on Madi, I knew I had to have her, her curves, her subdued smile, the way her face flushed when I called her sweetcheeks. But before I could make her mine, I had to convince her to look past the tough tattooed biker image she was afraid of and find the real me.

Mild MC Romance 🏍

Sid Redding a veteran who was injured in Iraq is at the end of his rope with no positive direction in site.
When a man Sid affectionately dubbed "Teddy" from the boneyard brotherhood motor cycle club walks in and changes Sid's plans.
Teddy welcomes Sid into the club where he finds purpose again fixing bikes.
Then one day Madison shows up to serve papers and Sid realizes what's still missing in his life.
This book is not your typical MC romance.
I'm used to the alpha male biker being dominant sometimes disrespectful and jumping in bed with every sweet butt in the club.
Sid is sweet, attentive, considerate, and doesn't cheat.
This low drama instant love doesn't end with a cliffhanger either.
This listen turned out to be a pleasant easy biker romance.
The narrator was a good choice for this book as well.
Gideon Welles voice fit the part of a middle aged biker.
I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.

Loved this Book

If you could sum up Overhaul in three words, what would they be?

entertaining, enlightening, enjoyable

What was one of the most memorable moments of Overhaul?

There were so many. The whole story but I guess the one when they got back together.

What about Gideon Welles’s performance did you like?

He is going to be one of my go to narrators. He is up there with Phil Gigante and Dc Cole. He made the story so believable. Loved his laid back style.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and did

Any additional comments?

I got this ARC via audiobook boom. I have listened to many MC stories before this one but this is one that really made me think and the narrator made the story so believable.

Glad I Took The Chance

Would you listen to Overhaul again? Why?

If I was in the mood and needed some MC romance than yes I would listen to it again. It was a welcomed surprise. But know that this is more about Sid and Madison than about the club. The club is more of an extension of Sid and not the main focus.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that we have a main character that was in the service. Also liked that the author was willing to make him a wounded vet. She was also willing to tackle the fact about the tough time our wounded vets have once they come home.

Which character – as performed by Gideon Welles – was your favorite?

I may surprise some but Sidney Redding was my favorite. He surprises you at every turn. Not just the fact that he's a wounded warrior. He doesn't let that define who he is and he's not willing to compromise his integrity for something he doesn't believe in. There is another book in my library that was narrated by Mr. Welles and I didn't like him as much as I do in this one. I felt his voice was perfect for Sid. And I would be willing to check out more of his work.

Any additional comments?

One good thing about listening to a book as opposed to reading it is that you don't watch a clock. The reason I mention this is because there came a point in the story where I thought it was almost over and then the author, and the narrator, surprised me by showing that it wasn't - far from it. And I was glad to have that surprise because I wasn't ready for the ride to be over. A couple of things came out of this besides my listening pleasure was that I have a new author to watch out for and hopefully her book two will be coming out in audio form.

suprised

I'm so glad I stuck with this book and finished it to the end. It grabbed my interest and I was a little hesitant on the narration just being a male voice his voice but he did a terrific job. Again the book was great I enjoyed it and can't wait to Read the others.

Not your typical MC Romance

Not your typical MC romance, this book is a pleasant surprise. Amber Burns has a way of integrating a not so ordinary romance with the hurdles a veteran has to live with when hurt in combat. Sid returns from an IED explosion several years before and has adapted to civilian life with his disabilities. He meets Maddie, and he knows right away, he is "going to put a ring on it!". I love it when there is love at first sight. Sid is a complex character, with his rough, soldier exterior, it's thought that he will be a tough man to get to know. His vulnerable side is evident and endearing, Maddie cannot help but fall for him. He is honest and forthcoming with his feelings. Maddie is a little harder to get to know, though as she warms up to Sid, her wildcat side comes out.

The twist and turns this book takes keeps the book interesting as well as romantic. There is trouble inside the MC Club and circumstances wreak havoc with Sid and Maddie. I love how Amber Burns is able to tie all these threads together and give the story real depth.

Gideon Welles is the narrator for this book. His raspy, baritone voice is perfect for Sid. He also has a good range of characters both male and female with discernible characteristics for each. He is fast becoming an autobuy narrator for me!

Thank you for the audio

Thank you for the audio, I voluntarily give this an honest review. Gideon Welles did a fantastic job with this book.on the brink of suicide, Sid meets the brothers that will change his life. Madison is the shy and awkward type but there is just something about her that draws Sid in. when the club gets in trouble will she stand with Sid and the MC or cut and run? this was a wonderful steamy listen

A sweeter softer kind of biker

Any additional comments?

3.5 stars
This is the second book from this series that I have listened to and I enjoyed it just as much as the first book I listened to. Even though this is part of a series each book can be listened to as a standalone. I listened to them out of order and it didn't have any effect on my enjoyment of either book.

It's a very entertaining and enjoyable sweeter MC story that is different from most of the MC books I have read before. It's an MC light story.

It focuses more on the relationship between Sid and Madi instead of the MC. Even though it's not full of constant drama and angst the story has a few little twists that keep it interesting. While I love my bad boy bikers it's nice to have a story that isn't full of constant drama, violence and heartache every once in a while. It was a nice change of pace. It was also nice to have a biker that wasn't a jerk and treated his girl like gold from the start.

Sid and Madi were both great characters. Sid was likable and easy to relate to from the start.

Gideon Welles did a really good job with the narration. He was the perfect narrator for this book. Nice voice, rough, gravelly and sexy around the edges just how you want your bad boy biker to sound. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. He has some really good character voices. Of coarse the male voices are fantastic. With a voice so deep, occasionally I had a hard time distinguishing the male and female characters. I am glad though that he didn't attempt to do a high pitched female voice, that would have ruined the story. He was able to bring the characters, their emotions and story to life through his narration. Very enjoyable

light MC

One of the lightest MC stories I listened to and was quite a fresh change. A mix of romance with some suspense, healing after being in the war, Sid finds happiness with Maddie despite the few rough patches on their journey to HEA.
I picked it because the narrator, Mr. Welles is one of my faves and I would listen to any of his audios with pleasure. His voice is quite flexible, love especially the deep raspy rumble he gave Sid.

Sweet!

Well written and thoroughly enjoyed by me! I loved the story, bad boy/good girl. Would be a good book with dual narrators. This is my listen to this narrator and noticed some pauses/stutters or maybe skips through the listen.

Great Read

Any additional comments?

Overhaul by Amber Burns was a great Read. Did is an Iraq vet who has contemplated tasting the end of his 9mm. The Boneyard Brotherhood became his refuge in his darkness. Once he met Mandi, he knew he needed her. I loved reading this book.
