Turbulent Sea

Loved this book and Oceans of Fire (Abby's story). I wish when a new book came out is was immediately available on audio. Still looking for the audio of Hannah's story. Elle's book is coming out the end of June and I don't see it available on audio either. Hurry Up!

Another Winner!!!!

I stumbled onto the Drake Sisters Series, purely by accident. I was looking for something in Fantasy or Western as they "were' my main interests at the time. My first acquisition was a hard copy of "HIDDEN CURRENTS" and I have been hooked ever since. Skillfully written and narrated make "Oceans of Fire" an entertaining, as well as satisfying book to listen too. I hope to find many more in the future.

Unbearable, unfinishable.

First off, some of the pronunciations of words like "water" are grating when spoken by this author. And words like that happen all the time. The main character and the Russian love interest have ZERO CHEMISTRY, and its actively painful listening to the author force this man onto a woman who can do lightyears better. She has VERY DAMN GOOD REASONS to want this guy out of her life forever. And yet he stalks her, and she just randomly gets sexual urges towards him? WTF.

He "refuses" to let her out of their past relationship (insinuating she needs his permission) railroads her into multiple decisions that puts her life and her sisters' lives' in danger, and refuses to give her the time she desperately needs to get over the ptsd that HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR. HE GOT HER TORTURED BY GOVERNMENT GOONS IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY. That's a far cry from forgivable, much less romantic, this poor girl needs therapy, not this awful character. I really don't know why Christine of all authors is trying to romanticize emotional abuse and manipulation. Shame on her.

Very Explicit

I enjoy the overall story in this series, but I find the sex to be overly explicit. It is not necessary to the characters or the plot for it to be so explicit.

International smuggling comes to Sea Haven

Light-weight but well edited romantic suspense.
Abby witnesses a murder in the harbor of her own Sea Haven.
It’s the partner of her former love Aleksandr Volstov, tracking smuggled shipments. She’ll need to overcome her feelings of betrayal to best protect herself and her family.
They’ll need the help of all the sisters, Jonas, Jackson, Damon & Matt. And intro the first of the Prakenskiis, Ilya.
Bresnahan does a decent job of narration.

Enjoyable but predictable

I've started to listen to the Drake Sisters series and it's enjoyable but the stories are all extremely predictable. I recommend them but with the caveat that they all follow the same formula; this brings an idea of visiting with an old friend each time I listen to a new one.

Okay

I like the sisters in this series, but the star of this book, Abigail, is not one of my favorites. She is back home from a stint in Russia but I have no idea why she was there. Anyway, her great love, Alexander, has followed her to the Pacific coast of America where the mystical Drake sisters live. The sisters all have special gifts and Abigail's gift is the ability to make people tell the truth and she has an affinity for water. She swims with the dolphins. Abigail and Alexander parted after a horrible event and Abigail cannot forgive him. Alexander is determined to win her back. He is in America because coincidentally the smugglers he is chasing just happen to be operating in the cove where the Drake sisters live. Yeah, that could happen.

The book is very slow up until the last few chapters and the plot is absurdly ridiculous and contrived. There are some good parts and some eye rolling stupid parts. The narration is only okay. I would not recommend this book unless you are hooked on the Drake sisters and want to cover all of the ladies.
