Publisher's summary

Bishop has been a vampire for 700 years and though he wishes nothing more than to live his life in peace, getting humans to believe that vampires are not monsters is a difficult task, and vampire hunters like The Reaper make it even more difficult.

Believing that a vampire killed her mother, Irina leads a band of vigilantes, determined to rid the world of these monsters. What no one knows is that Irina herself is half vampire. Determined to deny that side of her, Irina captures Bishop, believing he can lead her to the vampire responsible for her mother's death. But over the course of Bishop's captivity, secrets about Irina's past are revealed and she soon learns that what she has always believed to be true is anything but. Now Irina and Bishop are in a race against time as they fight for their lives - and their love.

Good Story but HORRIBLE narrator

I love the series and Kathryn Smith is becoming one of my trusted authors but this book I'm sad to say is ruined for me by the narrator. She accents are horrible, there is SERIOUS volume issues here. Like she gets to close to the microphone sometimes and she'll sound really loud or high pitched and then sometimes very low or normal.

I really liked Bishop and would have a feeling that I would have loved Marika a lot more if the accent used for her wasn't slaughtering her for me.

Okay about the book now:

Bishop is amazing. I love that he's all MINE and hard ass. To me he very much comes across as a guy that is deceiving. He looks lazy and like he's not going to do anything but push the right button and BOOM, killer on your hands.

Marika sounds like a fabulously interesting character and I like that she is always fighting within herself over the folklore of the Vampires that her villages tell everyone and what Vampires really do and are. I would love it if there was more of the interaction between all the boys, having them meet up and all but I really like the series.

It's a great spin on the 'grail' stories vampire lore. I HIGHLY recommend reading book one in this series.

Great book but BAD Narrator!

What made the experience of listening to Night of the Huntress the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed the story but it wasn't a easy listen as the last book. I really hate to complain but I'm sure they were commas in what she was reading but she didn't notice them. It was a great story!

Any additional comments?

Would I buy it again? Oh yea! Great story!

What made the experience of listening to Night of the Huntress the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed the story line, and the energy of the narrator especially in the last half of the book.

What did you like best about this story?

It wasn't the same old, same old. So many of the same stories out there, I'm so grateful for some real creativity.

What three words best describe Tobin Doyle’s performance?

"Grows on You" when she starts doing the accents your like ohh noo! Please! But after a while you just accept it for what it is, a part of the story and carry on. She started off a little fast and monotone, but after just a little while she slowed down and started "reading" the book. Once she does that it wasn't hard to get wrapped up in this wonderful story, emotions, atmosphere, it was all there.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this over a two day period. The book/story itself was interesting and entertaining enough that it kept me listening, but the editing was absolutely horrendous. The way they edited most of it, it made it sound like Tobin was rushing through it, when if you listen closely that's not the case. You can hear the changes, volume, tone, pitch, with just about every splice. This made it a little difficult to listen to, but I listened as I drove or worked so although I did listen to it all in a short amount of time, I could not do it in one sitting. I needed a breather every once in a while on Tobins behalf.

Any additional comments?

The editing sucked big time. Truly the only reason I gave the book lower than perfect 5 stars across the board was the editing. But the story is well worth putting up with it if you can.

What a shame another good book ruined by narration

Well what a disappointment this was, not for the story which was good but, if you're like me, the narrator can make or break a listen and this.....one......was......so......slow......it......was......painful. She didn't put any feelings into the story - it was just a plain boring monotone - yuk! If the female lead didn't have an accent then I wouldn't of known who was talking.

If you can get past her dialogue - it helps if you can speed he up - then the story has merit, and it is part of a series so I expect you will want to download it just to keep up with the storyline.

Worth the credit? - If you're following the series then yes.

Agreed! Narrator could be improved.

The story line was a good one. The narrator was boring and monotone. This could be a great series if you can get past the narrator. I have bought the series in order to follow the story line with the knowledge the narrators are different from the first book.

terrible narration

Would you consider the audio edition of Night of the Huntress to be better than the print version?

Not with the current narrator

What was one of the most memorable moments of Night of the Huntress?

When she holds her little brother and her father realizes what a terrible mistake he made.

Would you be willing to try another one of Tobin Doyle’s performances?

No! No! No! She should be reading young childrens books, Not adult romance.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to the sample of the next three books and I will be listening to the next three books as this one would have been a great one with a different narrator.

Just average.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Due book to this just being a average listen to me I'd say no. I love being swept into a story and this one I was constantly checking to see how much longer I had to listen and I have to admit that I doubled narration speed.

Any additional comments?

If it's on sale cheap and you want an average listen then you may want to get it, but I wouldn't use a credit on it.

not as expected

Is there anything you would change about this book?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I was VERY unimpressed with the narrator, she spoke in a monotone all the way through. I will not finish the rest of this series.

Do not buy! try the kindle verson instead.

Would you be willing to try another book from Kathryn Smith? Why or why not?

Yes, as long as it is not the same narrator. The narrator killed it for me. My mistake was not listening to preview if I had I would have never bought the book.

How could the performance have been better?

Different narrator Please !!! Despite trying to use accents she was very monotone. It was truly painful to listen to.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Night of the Huntress?

don't know as I could not listen past two hours due to narrator. I really tried.

Any additional comments?

I will try some of the other books in the series as they have different narrators than this one.
