Lark Smith has always had a plan for her life: find a fantastic guy, create a marriage as blissful as her parents', pop out a couple of kids and build a rewarding career as an oncologist. Things aren't going so well. For one, the guy didn't work out. Theoretically, she'd love to find someone else, but it hasn't happened. Two, she's just been transferred out of oncology for being too emotional. (Is it her fault she's a weeper?) Three, her parents just split up. Deviating from the plan was...well, not in the plan.

Over all okay book
Will say it was painful to hear the narrator give North Dakota residents a full on Canadian accent. than miss pronouncing sakakawea is just getting old.
Author seems to enjoy writing books with toxic relationships. Expects heroin to deal with people she doesnt want too, just because she loves the sister dearly. That is a toxic relationship

Funny, engaging, romantic and a great narrator
I just finished listening to this title - and one of the few that I had to alternately turn off so that I could pace and calm down or rewind to listen to that last bit again. The author captures the beauty of Montana and Martha's Vineyard as well as she captures the inner turmoil of an adult who thinks she has it all together, but it's just because she's never faced the pain that has shaped her life. I just discovered Kristan Higgins last year and am now working my way through her back list - every time she draws me in with laughter then hits me upside the head with depth and reality. Xe Sands is one of the best narrators out there (and I have listened to many) - I now choose books because she is the narrator.

if looking for good romance without all the dirty sex play this is the book. it is fun and super romantic. I wish there was a second book about the other couples.

smart and funny
it's hard to find mature, smart and funny romances. this is one of them. the only thing that I didn't like was the ex husband failing to fully recognize the part he played in the couple's divorce. otherwise, it was a really good story.
