Publisher's Summary

Trapped in the wrong time, she needs a knight in shining armor, but this damsel in distress might be the real savior.
With a day planner attached to her hip, the last thing Katy Tolson wants is a romance that threatens her well-ordered life. She's set to marry the safe - but bland - guy, but something's not quite...right. A careless wish thrusts her through time into medieval Wales and into the arms of a knight in somewhat shining armor.
Sir Robert Beucol, half-Norman and half-Welsh, lives with the shame of his father's treason and vows to reclaim his family's holdings and thereby his honor. To prove himself to his king, he must be more Norman than a full-blooded Norman. What better way to show loyalty than to fight his mother's people? He has no desire to be sidetracked by the mysterious wench with pink toenails, peculiar habits, and passion smoldering behind her cool, collected exterior.
The Welsh uprising fits perfectly into Robert's plans. Katy's on the other hand? That's a no. As they embark on a perilous journey through the heart of Wales, each passionate encounter pulls them closer together, but farther from their goals. When everything they value is at stake, can they save each other and their love?

Just No.

Wow, I really don't know where to begin with this review. This story was a real struggle to get through. The language barrier between the two was just not realistic. The chemistry between Katy and Robert was forced and did not feel genuine at all. The entire story suffered drastically and it was very hard to enjoy. I thought with an hour left the story was going to get better. No. This was not the case. It did not get better it actually got more ridiculous.

The storyline and plot was just not very good and I think the year 1294 was a bit too far back to go. This book was nothing like the previous book at all. I cannot recommend it.

As for the narration, Mary Jane Wells did a very good job considering what she had to work with. She gave all the characters their own distinct voice and read with the motion, she also has a very nice reading voice. So, I do recommend the narrator.

Same premise as Outlander, shorter, less complex

This is a regular one book historical romance set in late 13th century Wales. Book has same basic premise as Outlander in that a modern woman finds herself accidently transported back in time. That is where the similarities end however.

I enjoyed this book. The heroine of the story was neither TSTL or a raving bitch - such a breath of fresh air. The story was fast-moving and kept my attention.

The narrator did a GREAT job (to my American ears) with the different characters and the multiple accents required for each... British, American, French and Welsh. Having been an American on vacation in Wales [me attempting to read a map aloud ... may I PLEASE buy a handful of vowels!], I was especially impressed with her pronunciation of all the Welsh words and place names.

The romance was very sweet and I like both the hero and the heroine.
