Publisher's summary

Eliza Budley is a beautiful widow whose husband gambled away his fortune. Lady Fortescue reminds the others that, to be fair, Mrs. Budley has no relatives on whom she can call. Gentle Mrs. Budley thinks she has escaped her fate until Sir Philip comes up with a plan: He has heard that the elderly Marquess of Peterhouse is senile, a widower, extremely rich, and unlikely to remember whether Mrs. Budley is a relative or not. So off Mrs. Budley goes to the bleak castle where the marquess turns out to be not so old, hardly senile, and, in fact, quite handsome.

The loveable characters from the Poor Relation Hotel return in this sparkling and adventurous Regency from Marion Chesney.

good series, but predictable

What made the experience of listening to Mrs. Budley Falls from Grace the most enjoyable?

MC Beaton seriously lacks imagination, Mrs Budley nothing else than all the other folks that join the poor relation. It is a poor relation imaginary book.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

get more spicy and more courageous......

Which character – as performed by Davina Poter – was your favorite?

all of them if it weren't for Davina Porter I would have not listened to these series

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

nope it is all so predicatable

Consistant Light Romantic Regency Fare

Third installment of the Poor Relation Series. Set in the Regency period. Some nice period details sprinkled in the novel. This series of novels are light, entertaining reads. Regency without the bodice ripping.

As before the main romance is almost relegated to a subplot as the lives, hopes and dreams of the other characters were explored. Gentle humour, pleasantly entertaining.

The narration is, as ever, stunningly good.

lovely and entertaining, if a bit predictable

What made the experience of listening to Mrs. Budley Falls from Grace the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed this amusing story about the Poor Relations. It is fast and fun. We follow Mrs. Budley on her thieving expedition, and, what follows is pretty funny. Humor gets a bit crude, but all in all, another great book in the series. Done with this book in the series; and off my credit goes for the next one!

The Poor Relations Series

What made the experience of listening to Mrs. Budley Falls from Grace the most enjoyable?

I am totally hooked on this series. Ms. Poter's narration is wonderful. I am delighted
by the main character's personalities and can't wait for the next book to see what
they get involved in this time.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Sir Philip is the most colorful character. He is a rake, kind, hateful, sweet, and
totally unpredictable.

What does Davina Poter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I have listened to her narations of M.C.Beaton and enjoyed them but this series is her
finest performance. Her characters come alive. She deserves 5 stars for this
narration.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The series brings laughs, worry, historical information, and pure delight.

Cast of characters

I have enjoyed this series of books and the character development in each book. The story line gets a bit far fetched at times, but always in a good way. I feel like I am reading about characters I would like to have as friends.

Love this series

Just another great book in a cute series. It is an easy listening companion. I will continue to Sir Phillips Folly next in the series.

Another triumph

Davina Porter never disappoints. The story was lovely, as all of the Poor Relations books are.

Clever Regency Mystery

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love this series. Beaton has created a wonderful cast of characters that the reader wants to spend time with and see how they resolve their predicaments. Davina Porter does an awesome job of reading this tale.

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's be grand fun following Ms. Budley and seeing her slowly growing stronger.

Have you listened to any of Davina Poter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I love Davina Porter as a narrator. I have actually ended up listening to books that I would ordinarily skip over simply because she is the performer.

Mrs. Budley Gets Some Guts

What made the experience of listening to Mrs. Budley Falls from Grace the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed seeing the change in Mrs. Budley from dependent and shy to strong and assertive.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I had not really thought much about the character of Mrs. Budley in Books 1 and 2. As usual, though, I liked the male aristocrastic leads best, even though they're basically the same character.

What does Davina Poter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a great job distinguishing the various characters with subtle differences in dialect and tone.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I was able to do it in two "sittings" while driving.
