Publisher's summary

To ruin a man's life once takes a regrettable mistake. To do so twice takes a woman like Julianne Baxter.

Eleven months ago, Julianne's statement to the authorities wrongly implicated Patrick, the new Earl of Haversham, in his older brother's death. The chit is as much trouble as her red hair suggests, and just as captivating. Now she has impetuously tracked him to the wilds of Scotland, insisting that he return home to face a murder charge and save his family from ruin. A clandestine wedding may be the only way to save her reputation - and his neck from the hangman's noose.

Julianne has no objection to the match. More and more she's convinced of Patrick's innocence, though when it comes to igniting her passions, the man is all too guilty. And if they can only clear his name, a marriage made in haste could bring about the most extraordinary pleasure....

Honor, redemption and loyalty

I love the heroine in this book. She goes against everything socially important to right a wrong she has done and at the cost of her own reputation and good name. She is also fiercely loyal and goes to extreme extents to clear the man's name she has wronged. The hero is also a very likable character. He is an honorable man with a soft heart and gentle personality. The story began as interesting and got REALLY exciting about 2/3rds into the book. I like suspense and that certainly got worked into the story nicely. But the best part was the ending. I never suspected who the villain was. It’s a book worth the credit.

The BEST in the Series!!!

Any additional comments?

Let’s face it, I hate shrewish heroines. My heart sank when I read some of the reviews as some indicated the heroine was horrid. I remembered Julianne from book 2 and I didn't hate her but neither did I like her much, needless to say I had grave misgivings + the reviews… I almost considered not reading it but I have a knack for finishing a series. With that said, I made the RIGHT decision!!! Julianne is a fantastic heroine! She gives an aura of being a snob but underneath, she is very soft of heart. She has many layers and they make for a great heroine, probably one of my favorites.

I was engaged from the very beginning. One of the elements of the story that I enjoyed was marriage fairly early instead of the last few pages of the book. It allows the hero and heroine’s relationship to grow fairly easier (IMO) more so than clandestine meetings in a dark alcove. I liked the hero a lot, Patrick is overall a very good guy and it’s hard not to root for him. He really deserved better than he got. Despite it all he was willing to sacrifice himself for the good of his family and Julianne. He was in need of a HEA.

However, Julianne shined brighter IMO. She wants to right a wrong and will go to great lengths to do so (I.E. Flying off to Scotland, unchaperoned to beg a man she wrongly accused of murder to return and face charges because she now knows she made a mistake, reputation be damned!). As I mentioned before she does appear snobbish but she can wield it like a deadly weapon when needed; just ask the Vicar and Aunt Margaret. To sum it up her character development was great and was done In a manner that didn’t turn me against the heroine.

The mystery of the murderer held my interest. I had it all figured out or so I thought... JM threw a curve ball to rival a MLB pitcher! I can’t say it enough, this story has a fantastic plot, fantastic characters, mystery, and a good balance of romance and sex— much more than the first two books. Though I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books, they can’t hold a candle to this one! Although this book can stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the entire series in order… It’ll make much more sense. Hands down this was the best in the series followed by What Happens in Scotland and then Summer is For Lovers. I thoroughly enjoyed this series! I wish that there were more.

Narration: Lana J. Weston – Lana was great. I felt like she got better and better with each book narrated in this series. She did a fantastic Julianne, she made her sound like she appeared, snobbish and an airhead but strong willed and defiant all in one. I enjoyed all of her voices. She makes a great duo with JMQ

Story: 5++++++++++++
Narration: 5++++++++++++

We also meet the hero in JM’s new book The Accidental Wallflower.

Best so far.

First of all, I am impressed by Jennifer McQuiston's talent. Her day job is with the Centers for Disease Control and writing is a sideline. What a sideline!

This was a good story. It picks up right after SUMMER IS FOR LOVERS in which we meet Julianne Baxter in a secondary role. (And I didn't like her much.) We met Patrick in WHAT HAPPENS IN SCOTLAND. I really liked the chemistry between the two. The author is great at this. And the bad guy provided a good mystery.

The narrator did a fine job. At first I didn't care for the way she read Julianne's part but it grew on me.

Brava, Jennifer McQuiston!

Marvelous - Loved it!

You may ask yourself, how could a simple kiss change the lives of so many people? To answer this question, you then have to pick up MOONLIGHT ON MY MIND, to discover how the overindulged and selfish Julianne Baxter did it not only once but twice. Eleven months ago, due her vain opposition to not wear spectacles when she obviously couldn’t see three feet in front of her, she wrongly implicated Patrick, the second son of the Earl of Haversham of murdering his older brother in cold blood. (This was of course, after kissing Patrick in order to arouse his brothers interest - then deciding she actually preferred the younger brother to the heir – but I digress.)

Since Patrick had no choice but run to avoid prosecution, he had been hiding out in Scotland these past months until his father could sort out the nasty business. Unfortunately, Patrick's father had suddenly died under mysterious circumstances, and the impulsive Julianne has tracked him down to deliver the news and insisted he return home. However, while at Patricks home/hovel in Scotland, Julianne was seen by the local preacher in most unbecoming state and her ruination was imminent unless she married - and quickly. Planning to marry and annul at the very first opportunity, the plans got just a tad spoiled when the attraction between Patrick and Julianne came to a simmering, blazing consummation that no annulment would or could reverse.

Not only was the performance by Lana Weston superb, but the entire story with so many twists and turns was so totally enjoyable from start to finish. Which is quite obvious because I couldn’t stop listening and finished this in one day and a few hours into the wee morning hours.

While it took me a bit of time to warm up to Julianne, it was instant adoration I felt towards Patrick. Handsome, smart, and loved horses and animals. A second son who had gone to Italy to learn the practice of veterinarian medicine rather than live off of the family. He adored his older brother, even though he was clearly favored over him by his parents. Loved the family dynamics.

However, what sets this entire story apart was the many red herrings tossed out as to who the true villain(s) was/were who had murdered Patrick’s brother and later his father. Honestly, didn’t see this twist coming! MOONLIGHT ON MY MIND was a fully robust read, with a great story and sensual romance, and fabulous mystery. I loved it!
