Great Story

I really enjoyed this book! The story quickly grabs you and holds your attention, it was well written and painted a vivid picture. It is a balance of action, suspense, fantasy and romance. The narration was fantastic, Steve West and Katherine McEwen both did a fantastic job.

This was my first book that I've read/listened to by Jane Redd, but Heather B. Moore has become one of my favorite authors, and she did not disappoint while writting sci-fi fantasy.

Hard to put down

I was really surprised how much I liked this audiobook. I've wanted to read it for a long time but I've been super busy so when it came out in audio, I snapped it up.

The writing was so well done I felt like I was there with the characters. It was also a very unique story. I found myself looking for excuses to listen.

Great job!

4.5 stars. Clean.

A fairytale romance.

From a routine soul retrieval to an underground rebellion of reapers. This story is fascinating and sweet. I was really impressed by the Prince and Mistress Grim. This os a great romance with a bit of darkness.

Very interesting story, great audiobook readers!

I thought this was a very interesting twist on the grim reaper and how he (or she) came (or comes) to be. I‘m usually not a huge fan of first-person writing styles, but this one actually worked.

Also, the audiobook readers both did a really good job! Seeing as I’m extremely picky when it comes to audiobook readers, this is a big compliment. The man’s voice didn’t sound whiney when he was reading a female characters dialog, and the female voice was able to actually make the male characters sound manly instead of like there was a woman reading the dialog and trying to make her voice low like a mans.

Both readers were also articulate and clear in their reading as well as engaging and bringing the characters (specifically the main ones) to life.

I would recommend this book & audiobook to anyone that is interested in fantasy, romance, and twists of classic stories or ideology.

Exciting and Unique

This exceeded my expectations. I absolutely love the world building, the Underworld was realistic and believable. I haven't read anything like this and it grabbed my attention from the beginning. Cora unearths secrets as she adjusts to her role. I was able to connect with both Cora and Leo, their struggles and pain were relatable.

Despite the shorter length and fast pace, the story feels complete and not rushed.

Steve West and Katharine McEwan narrated the story perfectly. They really added to the story and bringing the characters to life.

Creative storyline

I loved that this audiobook had a male and female narrator. It made it really enjoyable for them to go back and forth with the different perspectives of Leo and Cora.
Leo was an interesting character. He was pretty selfless even though he would rather die then be King to his nation. Cora was young and fairly naive which was also kind of fun. This was a clean, sweet romance.

Great world building!

Wow! Those readers’ voices are amazing! I’ll search out other books they’ve narrated...

The story is a wonderful YA fantasy with a very romantic hero and heroine. Magic and immortality and love all wrapped up in an enjoyable package!

YA is my favorite genre, but this story is great for any age person who wants a clean, romantic escape from reality.

Loved it

Cora and Leo’s lives become entangled when both of their kingdoms are in the middle of upheaval. I loved this take on the Grimm Reaper. I also enjoyed the depth of the characters and events happening around them. Leo’s complete devotion to Cora May just what they need to save Cora’s kingdom and themselves. I loved the dual narration and was able to lose myself in this tale.

A Must Read for Any Fantasy Book Reader

Mistress Grim is a novella with a very well developed plot. The world building is excellently done, and the narrators made this audiobook suck me right in. While I was very invested in the world, and I could listen to Katherine McEwan talk probably forever without getting bored, I wasn’t super emotionally invested in the outcome of this story. I think Cora and Leo, and their relationship, could have been developed more and then I could have given it five stars. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
