Publisher's summary

An overnight billionaire....

When Carson Frost inherits a confectionary that rakes in billions but is too cash-strapped to last another 60 days, he agrees to take a loan from his late father's rival. There are two catches: Carson has to sign over a permanent stake in the company and marry the man's daughter.

Concocts a fake bride....

Two weeks before the wedding, he gets cold feet and claims he's in love with someone else. The investor says he'll still hand over the cash if Carson takes a stroll down the aisle - with the woman who owns his heart. Since he isn't even dating anyone, Carson panics. Where is he going to find a bride willing to jilt him at the altar on such short notice?

And whips up a little love.

Ella Hope is an actress happy for any paying gig, but jilting a hottie in public isn't what she had in mind. Still, she needs rent, and he's in a bind. How hard can it be? While playing at matrimony, suddenly their intimacy isn't so fake. Ella can't help but fantasize that Carson is her groom and they will live happily ever after. But once his company is safe, will he want her anymore?

female narrator reading male character's lines

Only at chapter 3 and I've just had enough of the cheesy way the female narrator is reading the male part. Wish duet type of reading is used for this one or just the male narrator doing all the reading.

disappointed

Struggled to finish the book. I kept listening hoping I would get drawn in to no avail. the narrators leave something to be desired. when they speak for the opposite sex it's almost cringe worthy.

Lady narrator

I tried to listen to two books from the series but failed to stay interested to finish the book. I didn’t like the way the lady narrator did her part, this is only my opinion. I can’t stay focused because of poor voiceover of the lady. I would really like to finish it (I can’t read the book @ the moment)

Misadventures of a female narrator

First, let me just say that I will beg, borrow, buy any media offerings narrated by Christian Fox.
Regardless of story or plot. whether there is one, or not, if Christian's name is on the ticket I'm gonna listen..dammit.

This story is simple and frankly weak. Vacuous plot even as the story idea seemed intriguing or at least I imagined there could have been a more interesting tale told.

And yet having CF do his thing, kept me 'involved' . But this Lucy person is one of the worst narrators I have had the misfortune to come across. Her voice was grating and what I supposed was meant to be sexy came off as perverted and unattractive. So, yeah I skipped every chapter she narrated.

She messed up an already compromised tale. Too bad.

Female narrator is awful.

The story is ok and even convincing, but the woman narrating just crushed every chapter. When she speaks with a male voice is just gagging. Finished it because the story involving a bully being put in his place got me curious.

Love the story, not sure I like the narration

Carson makes plans to have Ella jilt him so he doesn't have to marry a woman he doesn't really like in order to secure a loan from her father. He hires Ella to play the woman he loves. As always happens when fake relationships happen, things develop. Both of them fall for the other. Steamy, sweet, a little conniving on someone's part, and a HEA. I love the book. I wish they used duet narration or simple didn't try to pretend to speak as the opposite sex when they are reading their chapters. The voices kind of drove me nuts. So that spoiled it a bit for me but the story held me until the end.

Fun, light read.

I love the entire concept of this Misadventures series, so I can't help but grab them when I have time for a quick read.

This is a bit of insta-love, a bit of sweet, sexy, and fun. It's a light, fun read when you don't want anything serious or deep.

If you're looking to find love by hiring an actress to play your girlfriend, well, this could be the book for you!

pathetic.

I hate the Male point of view on love making. it's just plain pathetic. Men do not fall in love be cause the sex is good. This is a few hours of your life you won't ever get back. Don't waste your time.

Carson & Ella's💘Story! Another Great Misadventure!

A great addition to the Misadventures series. I love how each talented author brings it, giving their own unique story and adventure or rather misadventure. Shayla Black gives us a well written, well told story. The characters and storylines are interesting and well developed. I enjoyed the dynamics of the story and how it ended. Thanks for another great story.

I listened to the Audible edition, Christian Fox and Lucy Rivers are terrific narrators and storytellers. They do a wonderful job performing the voices and bringing the characters to life from the pages to your ears. Thank you for the great listen!
