Presque Isle, Michigan

What is the secret that could shipwreck both of their lives?

All Emma Chambers ever wanted was a home, but when her steamboat sinks just outside Presque Isle, she's left destitute and with no place to stay.

An unlikely solution arises when the lighthouse keeper arrives in town. He's just lost his wife and is having a difficult time caring for his child. So a traveling preacher gets the idea that the keeper and Emma might be the answer to each other's dilemma. After a hasty marriage, she finds herself heading to the lighthouse with this handsome but quiet stranger. Nothing in her aimless life, though, has prepared her for parenting a rambunctious toddler, as well as managing a household.

Emma soon suspects Patrick may be hiding something from her, and then she hears a disturbing rumor about the circumstances surrounding his late wife's death. It seems as if her wish for a home and family of her own could end up leading her once more into turbulent waters.

Such a sweet sorry!

This is my first book from this author and I really enjoyed it. I really like the main characters and really appreciated the way the store evolved. I was reluctant to listen to it because some of the reviews mentioned how they did not like the narrator but upon listening to the sample I decided to give it a try. The most important thing to me is being able to distinguish the different characters when they are speaking and I think that she really got it down. I also loved Josiah she’s such a sweet little boy and at time I forget that he’s only 2. Will definitely listen to other books by this author.

an absolutely wonderful christian book

wow!! what can I say. I had to call couple friends to tell about this book. I don't often do reviews, but this book grabbed my attention from the very beginning. so many times a book is "ok" but I have discovered a new christian author that I will be ordering more of. I can't recommend this book highly enough. it was worth every penny I paid for it.

Good story

The story is very good and keeps your interest. At first I wasn’t sure I could listen to the narrator thru the whole book because her tone was sort of flat and robotic. But a few chapters in, it got better. I’m glad I finished because I really liked how the author developed the characters and the story.

Too Many Questions

An okay read. I like Jody Hedlund’s sassy characters but this one is too whiny and questions everything over and over. The narrator didn’t help. The 2 year old’s vocabulary was off, but the plot was a good one!

Good book!

This was a good book and had interesting characters! Im glad there are more books in this series! (Even though Emma didn't know anything about children... it was flat out RIDICULOUS how she allowed the little boy to treat her! Ugh! That was very frustrating to listen to!)

Not one of my favorite of Ms Hedlund's stories

Narrator was great doing voices for the people but was very wooden for narrative
