Captivating and clean!

First LDS romance novel. I couldn't stop listening. I highly recommend this book. Narration was genuine.

Good story but wooden performance

I enjoyed the plot a lot even though it was predictable. The reader was a man when it should have been a woman since the story was from a female point of view, (except for the prologue).

Loved It! I've Read It Three Times Already!

I absolutely loved this book. I listened to it twice once by myself then again with my husband. I also purchased the eBook and read it as well. I loved the narrator. he knew how to change his voice enough that I could distinguish between the characters while listening. The story was heartwrending and full of passion. being a woman who has suffered through infertility and miscarriages this book was tough in the parts where miscarriage and infertility were mentioned but still kept me captivated. since Zach served in the Military those parts also spoke to me. I found so much in common with these characters that I could hardly pause or put the book down. I would recommend this to any and all my friends and have done so on a few occasions already.

A romance with a twist

This engaging LDS story is about Sondra who is secure in her single world as a successful civil attorney in civil law. Sondra's world is turned upside down when her sister, who is struggling with infertility, approaches her about being a surrogate mother. She would like to help her sister, but she works for an old-fashioned law office with an old-fashioned clientele. They would frown on a pregnant, single attorney.

Enter Zack, a computer engineer looking to find a way to keep his grandmother in her home. Saundra knew him years ago--and crushed over for years. They find themselves sitting together on a flight to DC and reconnect, learning of each other's situations. Sondra needs a husband to explain the pregnancy; Zack needs to be married to meet the demands his father has placed in his will about executorship--and who has the power to place Granny in a "home."

Wilkins manages to provide a believable scenario where two modern adults might really agree to a marriage of convenience. It's fun to see the two of them fall in love as they get to know each other again. There's the obvious complication of not admitting to the other how they really feel. It also raised some interesting options relating to fertility--you'll have to read the book to find out what those are.

There's also an interesting mystery relating to a dangerous stalker which gives the story an interesting twist. I'll just say to have your tissues nearby. I rate it 4 1/2 stars.

Good story but needed a female reader.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

The story is great, but something about this guy's voice just doesn't work for the characters in the book. The main character is female and I think a female voice would have been better.

We all have challenges

I lived this book, it helped me to remember that we all face differant challenges and we can overcome then. The only thing that would have made it better would be a female narrator.

interesting look at surrogacy

Any additional comments?

This book was an interesting look at surrogacy with an LDS perspective. Though at times it was difficult to suspend my disbelief, I appreciated the way the author examined multiple aspects of surrogacy and some of the issues and concerns that it raises, especially from a Gospel perspective. The romance was very sweet and best of all, clean! This book also featured interesting settings and a dash of suspense.

3.5 stars raised to four. I received a free audio copy in exchange for my honest review.

Kind of predictable

Not the best book. The story line was predictable from the start and also kind of dragged out. Some of the medical information in the story was not correctly stated and just over all poorly written. Also I hate when a man narrates a book that is written in a woman's view. It never works.

Was this written by a 13 year old?

While the plot was interesting the dialogue, overly described unimportant items and the awful narration made this book hard to finish. The dialogue was unrealistic, no one talks like that! The reader had inappropriate inflection or no inflection at all. I would not recommend listening to this book to anyone. Maybe it would have been slightly better to have read it myself.

Bad narration and a choppy story

The narrator was terrible. His voices for many characters sounded identical and didn't match the personalities that he was reading about. The story jumped around so much and was hard to follow at times. The ending happens so quickly and the mystery that had been plaguing the main character the entire story is wrapped up in about 1 paragraph. Disappointing for an LDS novel.
