Publisher's summary

At the very heart of things, at the core, we are who we are. We love who we love. And there is nothing in the world that will ever change that.

From the moment Lily Taylor met Morgan Wallace in their third-grade class, she knew they were destined to be best friends. Fourteen years later, she'd become the love of Lily's life.

When a tragic boating accident takes away years of Lily's memories, the two soulmates find themselves in uncharted territory. While Morgan is left holding onto the past they'd built together, Lily seeks desperately to fill the void in her life with answers.

Left to rebuild the foundations of their relationship, Morgan fights to stand by Lily against unimaginable odds. The two find themselves learning how to fall in love with one another all over again, and discover that sometimes, all you really need is a light to guide you amidst the storm.

A lesbian romance novel about the power of perseverance and hope, in the presence of unwavering love.

Wonderful!!

An outstanding story, telling of the ups and downs in a not-so-perfect relationship shook by crisis and saved by the power of love. I loved both characters, Lily and Morgan. The narration was so good I even cried a bit over Morgan’s attempts at romancing Lily back into love. Lori Prince can read me the phone book. I chose this novel because she was the narrator.

Maybe use other words

Ive lost count on how many times the phrase "they met eyes" was mentioned in the story.

Really good!

This is the first f/f romance I have listened to and I really enjoyed it. I'm so glad I took a chance on this one because the romance was really sweet, I liked the characters and it was really well written. Fantastic narration!

Romance in a lighthouse

One point about the structure of the story: every even chapter is just a few minutes long that talks about the past and the odd chapters talk about the present. The past scenes are always cheerful, whether they're sharing painting class or wishing upon a starfish. The present can be a little sad. At the start of the story, morgan and lily are having problems. Lily gets into an accident and loses a few years of her memory. Lily doesn't remember they were having problems, and Morgan spends most of the book trying to be the perfect girlfriend and make lily's life as comfortable as she can. Morgan hopes to make lily fall in love with her again, and lily is hopeful that her life is getting back together. I like how lily's brother is supportive of lily first and morgan second instead of being anti-morgan. It's more of a slice-of-life story in the sense we just see what they do on a typical day. There is some fluff, like morgan playing the ukulele and singing (badly) for lily's benefit, but there are some low points too.

I really like the narrator. From my listening experience, it can be difficult for female narrators to distinguish between female characters. Lori really stands out for making them all feel different. Morgan has the slightly deeper voice compared to lily so you can always tell them apart. Even minor characters like Becky and the old man jacob feel real. I do want to point out she uses very deep voices for some of the male characters, like the doctor (very minor role) and lily's brother john. Personally, I like it, but I know some people don't.
