History Mystery!

This book is seeped in history of the United States civil war. It was a tumultuous time and the author does a good job mixing the elements of history with some mystery involving President Lincoln. Like the time period, it has a more relaxed or slower paced feel but has many twists and turns along the way that keep it interesting. The main characters are written perfectly for that time period as most have moral values and put their faith in God. There is a "squeeky clean" budding romance that develops slow and I'm sure will develop more in book 2. And, the narration took me a while to adjust to....not sure why....maybe the accent....but by the end I thought she did a good job.

This book does end abruptly so be warned! If you don't enjoy cliffhangers you may want to wait until all the books are out for this series before you purchase. πŸ’– Unfortunately, now I have to wait for book #2 to be released before I find out what happens. 😬

Boring narrator

This might be a good story, but the narrator is so boring I just can't get past chapter 5. She sounds like a high school kid who is trying out for the job. She fails the class!
