See examples Daniel Zavaro and Quincy Watson:

As the rising star in Houston, Daniel has found fame as captain of his pro soccer team and the city's most eligible bachelor. Daniel has everything - except someone special - and that suits him just fine. He doesn't want, or need, complications.

Quincy has baggage, and lots of it. After a tragic accident spins her world on its axis, she finds herself as a single mother, raising a newborn nephew she never knew she had. Between parenthood, her full-time job, and dealing with the suffocating grief of losing her sister, every day is a struggle. When they begin to cross paths unexpectedly and often, an unlikely friendship starts to evolve. Feelings change. Lines get crossed. What happens next surprises them both....

Before they know it - they've been juked.

Sweet story

After listening to M.E. Carter's two book series, Change of Hart, I selected Juked because Change of Hart was so incredible and I wanted to sample more from this author.

Even though this book was not at the same level as Change of Hart, it was a feel good kind of book. There was enough chemistry between Daniel and Quinncy to keep me entertained and several interesting secondary characters to add to the story. I love stories about pro-athletes that meet a regular girl, but since I'm not a big soccer fan, Daniel's character was not as alpha sexy to me as some of the other books that I've read that have simular storylines (i.e. hockey, football or baseball).

Fortunately, our exceptional narrator, Joe Arden helps bring sexiness to the character with his gruff and totally hot voice. Joe is one of my personal favorites. He also does an excellent proformance when he speaks in Spanish or uses an occational Mexican American accent. He gives a five star proformance. I was not familiar with Simone. but, she really does an outstanding job as Quincy. Overall, I would give this a 4.5 rating.

Juked

I'm ashamed to say Juked has been on my TBR forever (reads 2 yrs). I bought it and forgot about it. I saw the upgrade for audiobook and jumped at it...but it still sat there.

Now comes the part where I'm ashamed. Juked is a great story. M.E. Carter had me in tears immediately. I loved the immediate bond formed with the main character.

In such a tough situation, M.E. Carter didn't pull any punches. It was rough, it was real, and it was eye opening.

I have to say the meeting between the Daniel and Quincy was probably one of my favorite meet cutes. Juked is sweet, real, and a perfect escape.

Light but sweet .

I Like that this book's storyline is different than most books. I enjoyed seeing a woman portrayed as being strong and hurt without all the yelling and hateful talking. This is who more women in books should be like.

More of a single parent story than a sports romanc

The story was very solid, but for some reason I expected more sports in it. I loved Daniel, the big family dynamic and how mature and gallant he is. This is a male character any woman would love, and with Joe Arden voicing him, it's even better. Quincy is a solid strong willed, smart and great leading female. Her circumstances were well developed and you could empathize and root for her the whole way. A solid 1st book in the series with excellent narration!

I loved it!!

How has it taken me this long to get to this wonderful story?!? Daniel and Quinn feel so real and organic that I want to go watch some Texas Mutiny Soccer so I can catch a glimpse of them along with baby Chance!

It’s ok

It’s overall an ok story. Not something I’d listen to again. But one thing I couldn’t get past is the male narrators breathing. Once I heard him breath between words that’s all I could concentrate on. Breathy gulps. Drove me nuts.

WOW!! I was listening to this one all night. I loved it. I didn't see most of what happened in the book coming and that just made this a better story.

I liked it!

Well the 1st 3/4 of this book was a strong 5 stars. I loved the story of the heroine, Quincy, taking on her sisters baby to raise as her own. She was mature and a likable character.
Even though the hero, Daniel, was the typical man whore he was likable in the first part of the book. I just wish his escapades early on would have been written in a more unique way. He was the same exact playboy character I have read about a million times. Same exact ways of using women, same lines and everything.
But it seemed him meeting Quincy changed him and he was very sweet with her. They were building a strong bond.
Until the last part of the book where he acted like an ass.
Of course there has to be some type of “drama” between the couple and I found the way he treated her to be inconsistent to his behavior toward her months previously.
I also found the “make up” to come WAY to easily after the crap he pulled.
Then the whole ending w/ the baby was much to cheesy for me. The entire ending between ALL the characters was much to cheesy! I really did like the 1st part of this book (minus the description of Daniels playboy ways being much to predictable). Still worth a listen for Audible Escape!
NARRATORS: Joe Arden was fantastic as always! I adored his Spanish accent w/ his mothers voice and the Spanish speaking parts.
Simone Lewis was good except she spoke much to slow. It was easy to fix by speeding the narration to 1.2 but then I’d have to change it back to 1.0 for Joe. Simone took long pauses much to often. Other than that she was really good!
