Publisher's summary

Mystery writer Bethany Lange wasn't prepared for the twisting emotions that left her breathless the moment she laid eyes on folk singer sensation Ali Hart. Of course she was flat on her back and looking up and backward at the gorgeous singer, but that didn't stop her body and heart from bursting into a kaleidoscope of want, need, and lust. Scared at the intensity of her feelings, Bethany does everything she can to avoid Ali at Camp Jacomo, the camp designed specifically for children of lesbian and gay families where Bethany volunteers every summer. The camp director convinces the hottest singer at the moment, Ali Hart, to spend a week teaching the children music - to everybody's delight except Bethany's. On her last day at camp, Ali approaches Bethany with an offer of friendship, but they both know it's the prelude to something bolder. Should Bethany take the risk? Does she really believe she can balance her quiet, private life with Ali's outspoken one?

A Long Slow Tedious Trip To Nowhere

When a story begins with a supposedly intelligent human being believing without question, information about a celebrity gleaned from gossip pieces on the internet you know they've stretched any sense of realism to the breaking point. When there is chapter after chapter of a 27 year old female avoiding the opportunity to get busy with a beautiful female celebrity then you've broken it entirely. Suspension of reality is a part of any fictional reading; some books are well written or humorous enough to make that happen; this one wasn't. The interminable pace of this audiobook ended up being too much for me to continue listening to even though I was hiking through a beautiful portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This particular selection may appeal to members of AARP but for a young lesbian it was more irritating than a full Brazilian.

it's Ok if you like first person told stories of a day in the life of Walflower neurotic person

Jolt is told in first person by this wallflower neurotic mystery writer who at the beginning of the book is working at a special camp for gay teens or kids of gay couples the boy isn't to clear on that. Anyway our first person then receives a JOLT when she falls off a fence, and sees new arrival whose name I just forgot, but she she is a world famous singer-songwriter and the most beautiful woman on earth. So of coarse the lead/ mystery writer spends half the book avoiding the singer, the waste more time playing it cool, then in a jealous fit over missed signals and things

Starts slow, builds to a sweet, very sexy story

narration was great and elevated this really solid romance to a higher level. Story a bit slow at first but characters well done

Well done

The narrator's performance was excellent and the audio production quality is high. The best Kris Bryant novel available on Audible.

Sweet One 😊

Another sweet story from Kris Bryant. It's not just about how Bethany and Ali meet and get together. It's also about how they navigate their relationship through the hardships of long-distance, trust, and relationship baggage. It's very heartfelt and not too angsty. A nice easy read to help get you through the day😊

So bad

This was so bad on every level. Was the sing songy narration AI? The story itself was immature and insipid . There was no reason for the one character to fall in love with the main character who was wishy washy, narcissistic and inane. Waste of time to listen to, though I did have a few laughs at how bad it was.
