Publisher's summary

It was a mismatch made in heaven: innocent girl from the boonies moves in with tattooed, pierced, bad-boy engineer.

I came up with a bet, a plan to tutor her in math and coach her through her phobias. What I wasn't betting on was becoming addicted to her.

But I was living a double life on weekends, and once she found out about it, she'd be gone.

I had to protect myself, and that meant one thing: I couldn't fall in love.

Author's note: This is not an exact retelling of Jake Undone. While pivotal scenes from Jake Undone are retold from Jake's point of view, Jake Understood is its own story that includes all-new material from both the past and present time where Jake Undone left off.

Wish I’d known

The story was overall good but there was so much repetitious storyline from Jake Undone that I found myself bored. It had its high points but not enough to be a “stand alone” book.

Love these characters and I want more of them!

What made the experience of listening to Jake Understood the most enjoyable?

The narrators were terrific for this story. You could tell that they weren't just reading words from the page. It seemed as if they understood the characters and the story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Jake Understood?

At the end in the elevator.

Which character – as performed by Brian Pallino and Felicity Munroe – was your favorite?

I really enjoyed them both equally!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It was so nice to see the whole gang back together. I definitely thought it was great to see Nina finally accept Ivy and the reasons that Jake needed to follow through on his promise.

Any additional comments?

Some of the best stories and audiobooks that I've experienced.

Wonderful job with the alternate telling

This is the second book in the series and you have to read book one before this book. While this book does run very parallel to book one, Jake Undone, the author does a wonderful job telling the story more from Jake’s point of view and having us understand his actions so much more. Of course the major surprise learned in the first book is not there, but there is just so much more to Jake and the author does continue the story from where the first book left off as there was more to the story. The ups and downs and still has twists. The same two narrators tell this story as in the first book and once again they bring this story to life. They really make you feel what the characters are experiencing. It was great catching up with some of the characters from the original book, Gemini. Again the author handles writing about some very difficult topics keeping things real. I am really hoping to have more of these characters in the future, as I was sad to have it end.

3.5 stars - loved the Mr. Bat rhymes again!

Jake and Nina’s story continued here. I liked the flashback method used to fill in what was going with Jake as he fell in love with Nina when they were roommates. The supporting characters from book 1 (Skylar, Mitch, Allison, Cedric) show up for a party Jake wanted to throw Nina. But Nina disappeared for a breather before Jake got home from an unavoidable overnight trip.

Nina's method for dealing with her issue with Jake’s past was risky, but it gave her the closure she needed to finally accept Jake’s burden. Jake and Nina both came to the conclusion that they didn’t start living until they met each other. We got a crazy trapped in the elevator scene that I wouldn’t wish on anyone before their happily ever after resumed.

Audiobook narrators Felicity Munroe and Brian Pallino were great again. We got a lot of new material about the past events that made Jake that much worthier of sympathy for his strength in the unique situation he couldn’t walk away from ever. Most of all, I loved Jake’s sense of humor.

Nina’s bestie gets her own novel in My Skylar which I already own in both e-book and audiobook formats. I need a breather though before I can return to this world, but eventually I plan to read it.
