Slow moving
Story is okay, but I have very much liked other stories by Lauren Layne, so I wonder if the problem here was the narrator. Her rendering of Cole’s voice—as well as the back and forth of the characters not opening their mouths and saying what was on their minds—made the male come off as very weak.
I was ready for this one to end.

a sweet romp with a very interesting hero
I really enjoyed having heroes conflict involving his family was dealt within the story. While many of the beats of the story we're predictable, that didn't take away from the fact that the book was good entertainment.

male vs female who gets the job
Cole and Penelope were both after the same job. They were both qualified. There both go getters. She had an edge. She knew the stats like movies business.
I can say that it as not the narration that kept me rooted. There were not faults or issues just nothing that stood out.
