Publisher's summary

Iris Chance is turning 33. She's an independent woman, the owner of the Sunflower Coffee and Tea Company in Hidden Falls, Oregon. Hidden Falls boasts clean air, natural beauty, good neighbors. The only problem is that there are zero interesting single men and Iris wants a baby. She'd love the whole package - the love story, the sexy romance with a hero who will sweep her off her feet - but she doesn't have time to wait for Mr. Right. He may lose his way and never show up. She decides to start a family with the help of a sperm bank, knowing she'll have her large family to support and encourage her as a single mom. When the new High School English teacher, Geoff McLeod, walks into her cafe and into her life he seems perfect. There's only one problem.

Geoff McLeod never imagined his wife would end their six-year marriage with a text message. Reeling from her betrayal, he moves to Hidden Falls to teach English and Creative Writing. He's got zero interest in women or dating until he meets Iris Chance, the intriguing woman who bakes the best Morning Glory muffins he's ever tasted. He can't imagine starting his day without stopping in on his way to work for coffee and a muffin and to see the sexiest woman who ever donned an apron.

Iris is the oldest girl in a family of 11 kids. She's always been the stand-in mother to her younger siblings. She's got so used to looking out for other people and listening to their problems that she's become the confidante and unofficial therapist of half the town. She can see that the new English teacher has some emotional baggage dragging along behind him. He looks like he can use a friend and Iris has never been able to turn away from someone in pain. She's prepared to be his friend, but she would never get involved with someone who is still officially married.

But love has a funny way of messing up the best-laid plans.

Going it alone isn't all it's cracked up to be!

A sweet tale of overcoming the disappointments life sends your way to be open to the possibilities that still exist for you in the world. Also a cautionary tale of not letting love slip through your fingers by jumping to conclusions and letting the good things in life be enjoyed. A well woven plot that was very enjoyable and a happy ending to make this the perfect afternoon listen to be entertained by!

Better decisions please!

2.75 Stars for me!

Iris frustrated me beyond belief. She blames the H for her actions and cannot understand why he has not apologized. She enters a dating relationship but doesn't tell that person that she is going through in vitro... Really! She jumps to the worst case scenario! The H is a bit whiney but overall a decent person. Iris is also decent but makes mind-numbing decisions.

Beautiful Love Story Will It Be Happily Ever After

Iris Chance is at the ripe old age of 32. She has just about everything; her own coffee/tea shop and bakery in Hidden Falls Oregon. She is surrounded by family and friends and is always ready to listen to everyone's problems. The only thing missing from Iris' life is a baby. Unfortunately, there are no prospects in or around town for a boyfriend, much less someone to start a family with. She is seriously considering having a baby via sperm donation bank and becoming a single mother.

Geoff McLeod's life was shattered when, after six years of marriage, his wife left him – notifying him with a text message. He decides to start anew, accepting a teaching position at the high school in Hidden Falls.

I think any listener can take it from here… Nancy Warren writes a romance that may seem predictable, but is anything but.

Teri Schnaubelt always does an exceptional job narrating. She chooses excellent books to perform and does so flawlessly. I have yet to be disappointed and doubt I ever will.

This is a another sweet and innocent romance (there is one racy sex scene) in the Take a Chance series written by Nancy Warren. I really enjoyed book number one and cannot wait to listen Books 3 and 4.

Notes: There is one racy, descriptive bedroom scene. Other than that I would rate this romance with the movie rating PG.

I love Iris's story!

What great characters! I love Iris and her coffee shop and Jeff who sees her best qualities. There is great chemistry between these two characters. I love the "grand gesture" Jeff offers Iris. Another great romance from Nancy Warren.

Not as big a hit, but still good

Another good audio narration from Teri! I enjoyed the voices she did for these characters and the pacing of her voice. I will say she can put a little more passion into the passionate scenes, but overall I liked listening to her reading and I think it adds a nice depth to the story. I give her audio a 4/5 stars.

As for storyline I didn’t like this one as much as the prequel and first book in the series. Warren certainly is keeping with the theme of taking chances with Iris deciding to have a baby by herself and Geoff leaving his wife behind when she no longer wants him and looking towards another woman to help him heal. I thought it was a little cliche to have her find someone that actually wants to be with her instead of asking for advice or being her friend as soon as she decides to have a kid on her own. It was sweet how their romance developed as both parties weren’t super into it in the beginning due to life events. But over time they were able to develop feelings and the other people in Iris’ life are very supportive of her decisions which makes for less drama, which I approve of for this story! I give it a 4/5 stars.

A lovely Romance

Iris in Bloom is the second book featuring the adult children of Jack and Daphne Chance. Iris Chance runs The Sunflower Coffee and Tea Company in Hidden Falls, her families home town. Single and in her thirties, she discovers that she may have a shorter window of time to get pregnant than she thought and decides to go it alone as a parent using a sperm donor.

Geoff McLeod is a new arrival in town, after a shock split from his wife. He is the new English and creative writing Teacher at Hidden Falls High School. When he meets Iris at her shop he finds a whole lot more than a freshly brewed coffee.

Despite her reservations because of Geoff’s marrital situation and her decision to become a parent, Iris cannot ignore their attraction.

I am really enjoying listening to this series, it’s well written by Nancy Warren and well narrated by Teri Schnaubelt. While it is undoubtedly an adult book, it really would hold appeal for most lovers of the romance genre due to there not being a great deal of sexual content.

The one thing that I dislike about the narration may well be something that appeals to other people. The intimate scenes are read in much the same way as the rest of the book and in my opinion it could have been read with a little more passion.

I am pleased to report that we get to see how things are with Evan in this book too. I am loving the sense of family and the continuity. Iris in bloom flows nicely from Kiss a Girl in The Rain.

All in all this is a pleasing addition to the series with no cliffhangers and a HEA.

Solid, sweet, endearing, charming, funny and more

Iris finds that she can wait no longer for a man to come in and help her with the fairy tale love and family she wants. She has decided to move forward with her plans to have a baby. She knew the family she loved would support her. She has been the go to for all around her now it was time for those around her to be her go to. But things get a small wrench put in place. Geoff. Geoff finds that he no longer wants anything to do with women, period. He also finds that he had found the best muffins, ever. He finds that those muffins are attached to the most attractive woman he has ever seen. But none of this changes the fact that he's unwilling to become attached to another woman. In small town, Hidden Falls things have there own way of changing when you are paying attention. Geoff and Iris find that the two of them together can make magical things happen.

Teri Schnaubelt has given me another one of Nancy Warrens books to fall in love with. I loved her timing, cadence, pacing, and pitch. She gives each character their own charm. The audio was smooth and hiccup free. I could increase speed and find no faults with the quality of the audio.

♥ Story ♥

Iris in Bloom is about, you guessed it, Iris. She is a bakery master, a published author, and a shoulder to cry on for the town.

Iris ❤ Geoff

Iris Chance is turning 33 and her baby clock is ticking loud. Being the eldest female child among the Chance siblings, she has always been the secondary mom. The small pool of eligible partners leads her to the fertility clinic. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and she has that in spades with all the Chance clan. Iris is set on her plan, but meeting the hot new English teacher puts her mind into a spin.

Geoff McLeod left L.A. after his wife ended their marriage via text. He came to Hidden Falls for a fresh start. He left his lawyer friend to handle his divorce but is still technically married on paper. His outlook on love was grimm, until he stops at the Sunflower Coffee and Tea Company. That's when he meets Her, and his whole life changes.

"O Captain! My Captain!"
---Dead Poets Society

Iris in Bloom will inspire lots of nail biting moments that will leave you yelling in your head, or out loud , things like wait, hurry, and listen. Those that were alive in the late 80's will feel a need to stand on something to recite the above quote. There is the most interesting, yet touching re-gift ever! There is no epilogue which leads me to think that part #3 will start close to where this one ends, hopefully . This is a great edition to the Take A Chance Series, and I can't wait for more!

♥ Author ♥

Nancy Warren can be very creative. That re-gift was one I've never heard of before.

♥ Narrator(s) ♥

Teri Schnaubelt doesn't disappoint.

Iris & Geoff

Would you try another book from Nancy Warren and/or Teri Schnaubelt?

I enjoy Nancy's stories and would greatly read another.

Any additional comments?

Iris finds out if she wants children she needs to start trying soon. She has no man and decides to try on her own. Any men that do come around only seem to want advice to fix their current relationships and treat her more like a sister than lover. Geoff is leaving his life behind after his wife decides to leave him for her relationship with his best friend. Meeting a wonderful woman like Iris was not in his plans.
