10 HRS OF LISTENING PLEASURE

If you are like me and you just love a good Historical/Romances then this one doesn't disappoint.

This book is made up of great characters who have you sympathising over their dilemmas, a good plot that's not your usual 'Rake sees Virgin over ballroom' type, lovely building romance and throw in a couple of baddies, a twist or two and you've got yourself a good listen.

Worth a credit? It is definite YES - but at $9.79 I would just buy it and save your credits for a more expensive book.

Deceive, Deceived, REPETITIVE...

Oh my, I would love to know the word count on Deceive and Deceived. I do believe those words would total over 200 if not more. And I don't believe I am exaggerating. Also, I like a whole lot more dialog, this book had very little dialog in my opinion. The repetitive description of the feelings between the two main characters was just too much. The same thing over and over. I feel like the author couldn't think of anything to write so she would just repeat their feelings and thoughts. I did finish the book, even though I did predict the ending long before the ending. I am not saying the book was bad just annoying with very little dialog. It could have been much better, the plot and story line had so much potential. The narrator I thought did an excellent job and I think that's what kept me listening to the end.

Enjoyable

I enjoyed listening to "Intimate Deception", although there were details that seemed unimportant to the story that I felt would have been better without. It being a little different from your average Historical Romance held my interest.

Sarah Coomes gave a good performance, adding to the listening enjoyment. In my opinion the narrator can make make or break a story.

I would recommend this audio to any Historical Romance lover.

3.5 Stars Easy listen

The best selling romance novels will leave you warm and fuzzy. Take us into a world of love and passion, where the characters play out our dreams and fantasies for our delight and satisfaction, which in turn provides us with a longing for more. Intimate Deception had the right recipe for a successful novel, the heroine and hook the author defined was fresh and new. Where Laura Landon left me wanting was the lack of depths and or intimacy she could have brought to her characters. She did not evolve all the potential in Lady Grace and build on the sexual tension or romantic suspense that could have absolutely been there between Lady Grace and Vincent.

A mile wide & an inch deep

It started off good, then it became apparent it was one of THOSE cheap cookie-cutter romance novels where the same lines are repeated over and over and over. The lead characters assuming the worst, constantly whining. Same story, different names & locations, nothing original. Ugh! What a waste of a good credit.

Loved! Very funny and sweet!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! When Grace's secret is uncovered I couldn't help but laugh! To me, that type of situation, while not funny if it was happening to me, HILARIOUS to hear about! The relationship was so cute and there where unexpected twists!

Over and over, Spoilers (sort of)

I listened to this on my way home from vacation. The only thing worse that reading the same thoughts over and over is listening to them.

Woman escapes marriage to a pedophile by seducing man to loose her virginity so above pedophile does not want her. Man she looses her virginity to is of course a duke who has lost two wives to childbirth. (One of the babies if born perfect...but dies anyway).

Duke finds out his prostitute is a lady and searches for her and finds out she is pregnant. They enter into a supposedly fake marriage, which isn't of course...and man freaks out because he thinks wife is going to loose baby. Mans cousin (heir) tries to kill them both but of course in the end gets shot by man. Woman has two perfect twins...which I never saw coming btw. ((Rolls eyes)). In between all this is a man worrying...and a woman guilty saying so twenty times in every chapter.

Listening to her scream "love me, love me" would have been embarrassing if I had not been alone...geesh!

Sweet story, excellent narration

This is one of my favorite narrators. The book was enjoyable. It was a bit cheesy at time, but overall a good listen.

Liked the book, loved the narration..

What really did it for my in this book was the narration. Ms. Sarah Coomes made me feel the story. I felt Grace's (our heroine) desperation and her griping fears. I felt the deep connection between Vincent and Grace and fell in love with them. This was a great example of how a narration makes a good book come alive and makes you a part of the story. I was very surprised by the twists and turns towards the end of the story. Very unexpected! All in all I highly recommend this book to all historical romance junkies like me :)

Will tortured hero finally find solace?

Intimate Deception is the first book in a duet by Laura Landon set during Victorian England where the hero is a tortured soul who's lost two wives while trying to give birth to his heirs. He's sworn off getting married again and visits a brothel once a week to escape getting another woman pregnant. Turns out one of the prostitutes he visits one night is a virgin who asked a friend to help her lose her virginity so she won't have to marry a deviant bible thumper. While it works out for the young lady, our hero won't let bygones be bygones and he goes searching for her to ensure he didn't get her pregnant. When they realize she did conceive, he marries her in haste and without affection to keep the child legitimate. The rest of the story is how he tries to resist his growing attraction and feelings for the lady, despite the fact that she deceived him initially. There is an additional mystery subplot where someone is trying to kill our hero and heroine -- and it's not who you assume it is! Simply put, if you like your historical romance packed with emotional punch, Intimate Deception does not disappoint!
