Publisher's Summary

Julian Warfeld, Marquess of Knolton, travels to his minor estate when he learns the land steward is a crook. Referred to a nearby farm to see Marty Robinson about his sickly cattle, Julian is shocked to find a beautiful woman dressed in trousers and doing a man's work. Yet he finds himself fascinated with her.
Miss Marty Robinson saved her family's estate from bankruptcy by working like a man and gaining a wealth of knowledge about animals. When Lord Knolton asks for her advice, she knows he is shocked to find she is a woman. After his land steward is found murdered on her property, the two of them work to solve the mystery of who killed him and who is accusing Marty of being the murderer. As they spend time together, her feelings for him grow to love, but can she accept his proposal knowing he expects her behavior to change?

I love clean reads like this!

Any additional comments?

My job allows me to listen to audiobooks a lot. I mean, sometimes multiple books a day. I am a romantic at heart, and "clean reads" often feature in my weekly books lists. I must say this was one of my favorites as of late.

I loved seeing how the hero and heroine got to know and slowly fall for each other, how Marty defied conventions to do what felt right, and how Julian was able to overcome his own prejudices.

It reminded me of Pride and Prejudice, but with more action going on throughout the pages! Definitely recommend.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fantastic historical listen!

An unconventional heroine and a murder mystery make this a fantastic historical romance. Plenty of humor and twists that I didn’t see coming. Excellent narrator, she had a unique voice for each character. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Recency Romance with feminist flair!

I really enjoyed this regency romance audiobook. I love strong, unapologetically intelligent women who turn the male protagonists on their heads. This story definitely presses the gender defined boundaries within the context of its setting.

The Marquee is definitely traditional. Conforming to the expectations of his class, he is expected to get married and is dreadfully bored with his life, though he doesn't quite realise it. Then there is a bit of an issue with one of his minor estates. Visiting his estate to sort the issues, he finds himself face-to-face with the highly intelligent, intrepid Miss Marty Robinson. She may not be up to his class but she is definitely the person to breathe life into his existence. He only has to think outside the box and accept Marty the way she is, something that could be exceedingly impossible for a man of his stature.

This audiobook is entertaining, enjoyable and fun. I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys regency romances.

Clean historical romance

Any additional comments?

I found the story in certain areas to be predictable but I did like the mystery.

It has a strong female character which I am not sure I believe would do things she did in that era but since we don't hear about them, it does not mean that they did not exist in that particular time period.

I would highly recommend to all since it is a clean read.
