Publisher's summary

Soon-to-be college freshman Evie Claremont had hoped that once she'd arrived on Crestwood's campus, the nightmare that she'd been having would go away. It hasn't. She may be an inexperienced 17-year-old, but she's grounded... sane. She looks for rational explanations to even the strangest circumstances. Since meeting sophomore Reed Wellington, however, nothing makes any sense. Whenever he's near, she feels an attraction to him - a magnetic kind of force pulling her toward him.

Unfortunately, Reed acts as if Evie's the worst thing that has ever happened to Crestwood...or him. But for some reason every time she turns around he's there, barging into her life. What is the secret that he's keeping from her? Evie's hoping that it's anything but what she suspects: That he's not exactly normal...and neither is she. So, maybe Crestwood won't be the making of her, but it could be the breaking of her. Evie's now left to wonder if the dark future her dream is foretelling is...inescapable.

Should be a turned into a movie series.

Where does Inescapable rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

it was a new twist on other things I was listening too

Who was your favorite character and why?

Evie and Reid...they are both awkward in their own way but very loyal

Have you listened to any of Emily Woo Zeller’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No but the narrator had a mix of voices that was exiting to listen too

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Finding out what Evie was

Any additional comments?

started out slow but kept my interest...great fantasy

it's not bad

I read some reviews and I agree with them, there isn't much of a character build up. The author introduces Russel and literally few seconds later Evie and him are the best of friends and he would do almost anything for her. What bugs me the most is that as the performer reads the book, she will continue the dialogue with "as I said politely", or "as she said with an edge to her voice." I know it's part of the book but it bugs me that she has to describe that following after whatever it is she is saying. There will be alot of "as she beams at me", "as I stared", "as I said", and it feels so repetitive. Overall it's a cute book, does give you a little Twilight vibe but overall I will give the second book a try.

great book

loved this book lots of suspense. characters were well written. it reminds me of the Elizabeth Hunter Erin Chronicle series. Lots if suspense. I couldn't stop listening. the narrator was wonderful . I hope to hear some more books narrated by her. I remember driving and arriving at my destination in my car, and couldn't get out because I was so caught up in the suspense of what would happen next. already downloaded the second book in the series I have a long drive tomorrow, can't wait to hear the rest of the saga!!

This book is Inescapable!

I know the tag line is lame. But I enjoyed this book so much! It was no what I expected. The love triangle is very angsty, the twists and turns have you wondering what will happen next. Mine you sometimes it got a little much with how, for lack of a better word, childish the characters were sometimes. But the way everything progressed and how everything unfolds keeps you on the edge of your seat! I couldn't stop listening to this! And man the twists Amy throws at you!
So about the guys in this book. Reed, who cannot like Reed? BUT I would be sqealing on the inside like a fan girl one minute and hate him the next. It was a hard one but overall I loved him!!
Russel - The narrator did such a great job with everyone but not so much with Russel. I guess its because I'm from South Alabama and if your not southern its hard to pull off a southern accent for some (regardless if its Texas, Mississippi, Alabama ect) so it seem forced. I liked Russel from the start. He is a great guy and he tries so hard you can't help but like him. He is Evies Soul Mate and its adorable. But it hurts so much to love both the main characters and know she can only ever really have one!
Her decision will hurt either way!

Amy did such an amazing job creating these characters. The depth, personality and investment in each one has you loving each character and hating them all at once! You will get sucked into this series. Don't give up. I know alot of people say they couldn't finish this book but keep going I promise you it gets so much better!

Emily did a fantastic job reading each of these characters and making each one sound different.

Great YA paranormal novel

I enjoyed this first book in the series a lot. I do plan on reading the next one at least. I know the whole series is not finished yet and there are already 4 books I found the concept interesting and enjoyed the plot Ms. Bartol is crafting. I thought the narrator was excellent. I think it is funny how different narrators hit people. They can definitely make or break a book for me. When I read reviews, that is what I look for and I always do the sample. However some narrators that I can't do , others love and vice versa. I do recommend this book and narrator. It is the first time I have given a book 5 stars in all categories.

Entertaining

The narrater for this book was great. She does a fantastic job. As for the story I wasn't thrilled with it. But it wasn't because of the writing (which was great).

Wow!

Typically I don’t like YA stories BUT, I fell in love with these characters and I the story line was great! While it held elements of Twilight, it was very different! It also had twists that I turned the story in directions I would not have predicted! I’m looking forward to the 2nd book!

Good story. Horrible narration

Story is very fun. Performer was atrocious. Almost unbearable for me to listen to. Monotone for the most part and inaccurate inflection and tone. Pathetic, really. Rudd does other Bartol books and is much better. This is a second rate B level performer.

A Good Listening Experience

Evie's story is a nice mixture of mystery and fantasy adventure. It reminds me of the books that I enjoyed as a teenager and young adult. I enjoyed the characters and the as they got in and out of various predicaments. It was fun to listen as these young people tried to maneuver through life and adulthood. The performance was very good and the story was a nice, light mystery listen that kept me listening; without having to burn too much brain power in order to keep up.
