Publisher's summary

Former Marine, Trent Reed, is in desperate need of a Hail Mary.

With each failed attempt to convince his woman to pack up and move to Kentucky, his past finds some new way to rear its ugly head. But when his pregnant ex plows into his life, all hell breaks loose - unearthing parts of his past he wished would stay buried.

Two weeks of vacation with her man? Hell yeah, that is exactly what Teal Lofton's libido needs. And after surviving seven months apart, their reunion doesn't disappoint. What she didn't account for was an unfortunate encounter with people from Trent's past. A racist, a druggie, and a double-barreled shotgun, culminate into a vacation that will alter the course of her life forever.

Hooked

I wanted to understand Trent's anger and what he went through. His emotions had me in a vice like grip. Everything about him was intense, even the way he fell for, loved and protected Teal.

So close to that five stars...

In this one we get fire, ice, pain, sorrow, grief, loss. . . this one brought on the extra. I got a deeper more fleshed out read. There was that extra that was missing from both the previous books but mainly from book one of Trent and Teal. We find some skeletons and then some. We find closure. We find answers.

Michael Pauley did a very good job. I was impressed with his offereing and the way he reeled me in. I was held captive. I was in not rush to finish.

Excellent

I went into this audio not having listened to book 1 and I kind of wish I had but it was not necessary at all. I just really want to know more about Trent and Teal.

This book deals with everything real. It's difficult and sometimes uncomfortable but the entire book I kept thinking that Inger Iversen did such a brilliant job at portraying the most real and intense relationship. Trent and Teal were such a unique couple and their chemistry was off the charts. Unfortunately love doesn't ensure an easy path and Trent and Teal had quite a few speed bumps along the way.

I loved the romance and hot, hot love between T and T. Inger can definitely write her some steamy scenes!

Michael Pauley was such a great choice for this book. I admit it took me about 5 minutes to adjust to his narration but after that, it was smooth sailing and he locked me in for the entire book. I loved it.

Worth a credit? Most definitely. If I could do it again, I would listen to book 1 first even though this stands alone, I just want more of Trent and Teal and listening to book 1 first would have given me more time to obsess over them.

Trent and Teal are unforgettable!

Indelible: Beneath His Ink by Inger Iverson, is unlike most books I have read. The problems that are presented in this story are realistic and captivated my interest. It was filled with suspense, combustible chemistry and told a tale about two unique characters from vastly different backgrounds coming together. There are many twists and turns in the plot that kept me wanting to know what would happen next.

Trent is a hard working man who is trying to make up from his past. He is a man from the south and has been immersed in that culture
his entire life. Though he doesn’t believe the ways many around him do, he had to walk a fine line at times to fit in.

Teal is a strong woman of color. She is from Vermont and is trying to decide if she should move to the south to be with the man she loves. The culture is vastly different from what she is used to, but he makes up for the differences. What she doesn't expect is for his past to haunt him when she arrives.

PS - The audio version of this book only enhanced Inger Iverson's work. I am new to Michael Pauley as a narrator, but it will not be my last from him. His performance kept my interest as well.

Lots and Lots to Like About This

Any additional comments?

I didn't listen to book one of the Teal and Trent series but I listened to Incarcerated which is the book that introduced the two. The first chapter in this book was a bit jarring without having that book one listen but I got caught up after a chapter or two.

What a great listen this was! The twists and turns of this story were many. Trent is my new faux boyfriend, faults and all. I did not like the way the narrator voiced Teal but he knocked Trent and Logan out of the park!!!!

I loved that Logan and Katie (from Incarcerated) were still part of the story. There was a lot more sex in this listen than I'm usually comfortable with but it worked with the story progression. There is quite a lot to like about this listen and I highly recommend it.

All the Layers of a Great Relationship

Wow, this book! Where do I begin with my review?

Inger Iverson really is an excellent writer. This is the first book I have read by her and I can't wait to get started on the series. She tackles some very difficult topics, such as race, rape and redemption. Through this book, Inger shows that bad choices made in the past do not have to define us for the rest of our lives and that redemption is possible for anyone who genuinely wants to change and is willing to put the work in.

The love between Teal and Trent is palpable and the sex scenes really hot. There is no disrespectful or manipulative behaviour on either side, just pure love and respect. I love how they work through their issues, their past, their mixed race relationship and all the other hurdles that get thrown their way.

Michael Pauley is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to, and I have listened to him narrate several books. He has a sexy and expressive voice and when he puts on a Southern drawl his voice becomes even sexier!

Highly recommend this book.

This Series Keeps Getting Better!

Indelible - Beneath His Ink, starts with Trent and Teal having been apart for months, Teal decides to take some time off work and head down to Kentucky to see her man.

Trent’s on a mission to make sure Teal's trip becomes permanent, but Trent’s small town in Kentucky is not particularly welcoming of interracial relationships and our couple has their work cut out for them because Trent has had his own issues with race in the past.

If only Trent’s pesky and messy former life would just stay in the past, life would be great. But, life’s not that simple and Trent gets it from all sides when he starts to squire Teal around his hometown.

Soon his ex-girlfriend and his racist former running buddies, try to put the kibosh on Trent and Teals budding relationship. But neither Trent or Teal are going down without a fight!

This audiobook is fantastic! Inger Iversen writing style is raw and gritty, some may find it uncomfortable, but I find it “real” and I enjoy that aspect. If the character’s she’s writing about are racist pieces of trash, then that’s exactly how Inger’s going to write them. There’s no sugarcoating going on here!

Indelible is an erotic listen, so expect sex and plenty of it, but it’s also a dark thriller so be prepared for elements of domestic abuse, violence, sexual assault and coarse language in this well-told story!

Indelible is the second book in the Trent and Teal story, I’m pleased Inger Iversen is taking her time and building the backstory of Trent and Teal saga, there’s so much to explore in Trent’s past!

It’s not necessary to read or listen to Inevitable, the first book in their story, but I highly suggest it and the book that starts this series Incarcerated, all are available on audio.

Michael Pauley narrates and I’m so glad he took over from the first books in this series! His voice is better suited to the story and he does an excellent job with the southern dialect, his pacing was perfect and he exuded the right amount of emotion in this audiobook.

I'm impressed with the Michael Pauley's narrating skills and I’m sure his star will continue to rise!

Raw and Powerful

Would you listen to Indelible: Beneath His Ink again? Why?

The story was intense from the very beginning. We learn who Trent is right away. Though he has a past that isn't anything he'd like to brag about, he is working to overcome that past and make his life better. It's such a coming of age story for a grown man, raw and emotional.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Indelible: Beneath His Ink?

One of the first most memorable moments was the bar scene when he punch Jake in the face for messing with his woman. He was working so hard not to see color but it was so difficult when everyone around him kept pointing it out, every time they referred to Teal.

What about Michael Pauley’s performance did you like?

Fantastic. His inflections and vocal changes made the difference between character voices obvious. I could almost see what the people looked like by listening to his voice. He fed the vocals humor when necessary and hesitations when the moment called for them. Other than a mispronounced word or two, and I'm not sure those weren't written into the original manuscript, I thought he did an excellent job of differentiating between the characters. He has a wonderfully smooth and convincing voice.
