Publisher's summary

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ruth Cardello returns with an irresistible series about sexy billionaires and the strong-willed women who tame them.

Brett Westerly is his father's golden child, but it's come at a cost. As head of the family corporation, he throws himself into his work - hiding in his office is easier than confronting the reality of his broken family.

After a bitter divorce that split the family and divided loyalties, the wealthy Westerly matriarch offers an early inheritance to any grandchild who marries and invites the entire family to the wedding. Brett's brother Spencer rashly gets engaged, and Brett knows it's his duty to intervene. But he never imagined the unwelcome desire Spencer's fiery fiancée would spark in him. Now the man who's used to getting everything he could want has met the one woman he can't have.

Ever since she was a girl, Alisha Coventry considered Spencer and his sister Rachelle the family she didn't have. When Spencer asks for her help, Alisha has no problem becoming his fake fiancée - until she meets Spencer's sexy older brother Brett. The chemistry between them is undeniable - forbidden - but as their relationship deepens, Brett is determined to have her.

Alisha only wanted to help the family make amends. Now she's falling for the wrong Westerly.

Predictable

Unimaginative story, that plods on. Too many pronouns make th characters confusing. And a marginal narrator.

I’m dying!!!

I absolutely can’t stand this narrator! The story had such promise and it was totally ruined by Terri Clark. I can’t even continue with this series because she narrates them all. Maybe one day when I have time to actually read a book I can go back and finish the series but that probably won’t happen, this is so disappointing. I will be avoiding her from now on. I actually started making a list of horrible narrators now because of her.

ok

The story was ok and I could have enjoyed it better, but the narrator was awful. I don't understand the four stars I've seen on the reviews. A narrator can make or break a story. I may have like it better had I been reading it myself. Glad the listen was free.

15 minutes

That was all it took for the very slow computerized sounding narration delivering stilted sentences and awkward speech to grate my last nerve and force me turn it off. The stuff between conversation was delivered very slowly or very fast, so adjusting the playback was not an option.

very meh...

This was boring and formulaic. The narration was exceptionally bad. The reader did not make much of the story. I won't read another book read by her.

Narrator needs to be changed

Good story but the narrator is so monotone that she makes the book boring. If you change her then you will have a good product.

Weak female, horrid voice.

This book contains every mind numbing cliche that you could drench a psuedoangst ridden internal narrative with; zero character development, contrived antagonist with lame conflict, cheesy soft porn at the end and ....wait for it...all told with the voice if an air brained bimbo.

I had this for free via Unlimited. I STILL wasted my money.

On the Next Episode of Days of Our Lives

The story itself was decent although the familial drama and secrets played out like a total soap opera. Cheating, secret affairs, misunderstandings, DNA surprises!! It was kind of a lot. My main issues with this was the narration though. The narrator spoke in this breathy wispy voice the entire story. It's kind of hard to take the story seriously when the main character is read in a baby voice.

Great Read

In the Heir (Westerly Billionaire #1) was a great read by Ruth Cardello. Brett Westerly is his father's golden child and throws himself into work. He finds that hiding in his office is easier than facing his broken family. The wealthy Westerly matriarch offers an early inheritance to any grandchild that marries and invites the whole family to the wedding. Brett’s brother Spencer gets engaged rashly, and Brett knows he must intervene. But he never imagined he would desire Spencer’s fiancée. Alisha Coventry considered Spencer and his sister Rachelle family ever since she was a girl. Due to this, when Spencer asks her for help she has no problem helping him. But she doesn’t want to pretend to be his fiancée after she meets his sexy older brother Brett. I enjoyed reading this book and cant wait to read more by the author.
