Publisher's summary

Turned out by his father after a tragic scandal, Lord Michael Knightly has grown into a powerful, but self-made man. With the whispers and stares that still follow him, he's been shut out of respectable society. He would rather be anywhere but London. Then he meets Lady Aldora, a young woman who mistakes him for his brother, the Marquess of St. James.

Enjoyable and yet lacking an interesting storyline

Cute but fell short with a satisfying storyline. Love began after only a couple of 5 minute interactions and although I did not dislike the story I felt it lacked substance.

Ok

Next to 0 romance. Caldwell has a look many more romantic books it was a disappointment to hear this one. This should be rated as "sweet" for teenagers

Nice Quick Story. Good Narration.

This was a nice quick story. I enjoyed it. I did think there was more internal dialogue by Michael and Aldora but otherwise good.

They made a good match. I liked the story line and plot. There wasn't a lot of filler nonsense either.

As for the narration, it was good. I like Tim Campbell. He does a good job on the women's voices and has a nice reading voice which is kind of sexy too.

Great book and awesome narration..

So, Christi Caldwell is always a hit-or-miss for me and this time it was a hit. I liked everything about this story. I mean, a little bit of it was some crazy thinking on Michael’s part but at least CC didn’t beat you over the head with it, as she likes to do. Michael was in a duel with Lord Everworth and Everworth doesn’t like it when Michael won’t duel with him so he fires at Michael’s back and Michael turned and fired and Everworth was killed. Why CC wanted to have Michael think he was a “murderer” is beyond me. Then his family turned on him and banished him to Wales, where he proceeded to make himself filthy rich, so that was good.

I really did like Michael and Aldora, and I liked his brother Wilburn, too. I liked Aldora’s twin sisters, Katherine and Anne, and her brother Benedict. Her mother was just an unlikable idiot.

There were two kisses in this story and that’s all.

As to the narration: I simply love Tim Campbell. He gives the men such great voices and the women sound like women. What more can you ask for?

Okay

I was left feeling like I’d missed something. I think this would be a full 5 star review if it were a full story. As usual, Tim’s reading was perfect. My all time favorite narrator.

Poor editing possibly?

The book was pretty good...until it wasn't. About midway, the story became inane, the dialogue immature and the story began to wander. It may have been due to poor editing, but this is not a repeat listen for me.

Short and simple

This was an okay story once I got into it. There wasn't much to it, and it was slow, but it did get more interesting midway. And the Marquess was a nice surprise. It was in need of an editor to cut out repetitive details like Cupid's bow lips three times in the first hour. And the internal ponderings were sometiems repetitive and lengthy. A minor disappointment was the epilogue. After the buildup of the ending, I didn't want to hear all the children whining and would have rather had it be mostly about the couple. But I suspect it was trying to set up sequels.

Gppd beginning to a series

First of all, Christi Caldwell has her pros and cons. Negative things first- she is very repetitive in her descriptions and wastes a lot of time redescribing things she already described and then every book has similar descriptions ( every heroine has kissable bow shaped lips, etc.). Mostly I think they are just things that come from trying to crank out too many novels too quickly. The positive though- and the thing that keeps me listening are the characters- she manages to make them people that you root for and so that you need to hear their happy ending (there are some exceptions for me- some books of hers that I just couldn't get into but I just ended up skipping them and didn't feel like it made me miss anything in the series.) Tim Campbell is fabulous- I have read some negative reviews about him and I totally don't get it- I have struggled through some awful narrators and he is definitely not one of them- would listen to him every day and not grow tired of him. All in all I liked this story and continued the series until I got to the ones I would have to pay extra for- I didn't love them enough to pay extra

Marry for Love

A wonderful book and a fabulous narrator in Tim Campbell! Lady Aldora is in need of a Knight and she thinks that is in the Marquess of St. James! When she mistakenly thinks his younger brother Lord Michael is he. Can she put aside his scandal, her fathers scandal and chose the man she loves. A beautifully written novella!
