Publisher's summary

A year has passed since a tragic event stole everything from Laura - her husband, her dreams for the future, and her sense of self-worth. Determined to run her farm alone, she resolves to never give in to the man who wants her land, or allow vicious rumors to break her spirit. When a compelling drifter offers his help, Laura must face the insecurities that have prevented her from leading a normal life.

Four long years in prison have given Cade plenty of time to plan his revenge against the man who framed him for murder. When a young widow saves his life, his unexpected attraction to her is a complication he hasn't foreseen. In order to protect her from a common enemy, Cade is forced to hide things from the one person who deserves his honesty the most.

Cade and Laura's mutual attraction opens old wounds and demands they confront their deepest fears. Even as their love grows, Cade's reluctance to be completely truthful might destroy their one chance at finding happiness with each other. Will Laura's trust in Cade be strong enough to overcome the secret he's been keeping, or will the man who is out to destroy them both be victorious in the end?

Rumors Can Hurt

They say she killed her husband. They say she has loose morals.

A powerful man wants her farm and will stop at nothing to get it, even starting damaging rumors to force her to sell. But Laura is determined not to sell, nor let vicious rumors break her spirit.

She has no hope of another marriage because of scars sustained by the fire that killed her husband, so she has only herself to rely on to protect her holdings. Her enemy is becoming bolder in his quest to buy her farm, sending hiring gunman to try to drive her off.

One day she sees a stranger approaching and the 3 gunmen on their way to her farm open fire on him, but he doesn't fall before he kills one of them. They run away and although Laura trusts no-one, other than a few good friends, she brings him and the small boy with him into her house to tend his wounds.

When the gunmen return, not knowing Cade is weak and can hardly stand when he faces them, they want no part of him and turn tail and leave.

Unknown to Laura she and Cade have a mutual enemy; one Cade has come to exact vengeance upon. He first wants to find out why the man wants Laura's farm so badly, so he stays on to help Laura fix things that had fallen into disrepair since her husbands death. He also knows his ward needs stability since taking him from the orphanage a few days ago, which can be found in Laura's care. So, he makes Laura a proposition.

It's an interesting story with a few surprises along the way and at the end.

I enjoyed listening to "In His Touch" once I got used to Cody Roberts' style of reading. He has a nice voice, but his style of reading was a little off-putting at first.

I recommend this book.

Love this love story

Another great story by Peggy Henderson. I loved the characters in this story. Cade and Laura's stories pull at your heartstrings and make you wonder what two people have endured and the strength they find when they are together. I've read this story in print and had to listen to it as well on a road trip~ Narration was great, lacks nothing, isn't robotic or boring to listen to.

In His Touch, A Wonderful Romance!

What made the experience of listening to In His Touch: Blemished Brides Book 2 the most enjoyable?

Cody Roberts voice! I love listening to him, no matter which character he is narrating. I love that western twang. I love how he builds up the suspense. He is believable in narrating those dastardly bad guys. The tenderness in his voice, when Cade is talking to Jonah or Laura. The author knows how to pick exactly the right narrator for each of her audio book series and she did very well when choosing Cody for this series.

Any additional comments?

This is the second book in this audio book series. and I love it as much as the first one, In His Eyes. Cody pulls you in from the very heart stopping beginning, with his voice and you wonder what is going to happen next.
Cade is a wonderful hero, just out of prison with a lot of heartache and trying to recover from past hurts and frustrations. He has a gentle, sensitive and loving heart. Laura, our heroine, is dealing with her own hurts and sorrows. She is strong and determined and working hard to keep her farm from someone who has taken so much from her already and now is determined to take it away too. And than we have adorable little Jonah, who will melt your heart, as you get to know and love him.
Peggy L. Henderson has given us three very lonely and hurting souls, that we can root for as we listen to all the twists and turns of working towards a HEA. This is wonderful love story from a very favorite author, written with a lot of sensitivity and narrated so beautifully. I am looking forward to the third in the series. JudyE

Awesome story. Awesome narrator.

If you could sum up In His Touch: Blemished Brides Book 2 in three words, what would they be?

incredible, amazing, beautiful

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cade, because he saw Laura without flaws, & fell in love with her scars & all her strong characteristics, just the incredible woman that she is.

What about Cody Roberts’s performance did you like?

He could speak with clarity even trying different voices for the different characters, intonations were good, good narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I loved the story & felt it was a sensitive topic written with absolute clarity on each of the main characters life dramas being told beautifully. I wanted the kind of love that Cade so easily showed Laura even when she wasn't trusting of him. I wanted to cry, both good & sad tears.

Any additional comments?

I love all of Peggy Henderson's stories that are out. She was a new to me author just a few short months ago, & I have stayed up nights just to read each book of her's straight through. Today my husband & I listened to this whole audible book & for me it brought it to real life. I would listen to all of her books just to bring them to life.

Love Conquers All

Where does In His Touch: Blemished Brides Book 2 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks among the top of all my audiobooks.

Any additional comments?

This is a moving story by an exceptional author set on a small ranch in Montana in the 1800s. It is about two scarred individuals and a little boy, brought together by chance, and becoming whole through strength born of overcoming adversity and of love.
The narrator brings the author's fantastic story to life with his sexy cowboy drawl and is always such a pleasure to hear.

Short, but complete

This audiobook comes out to just under 6 hours, which is shorter than Peggy Henderson's other books. But, the story and characters make up for it, and you aren't left wondering about anything. I read the print version when it was released so this was my second time through. It was just as enjoyable (except I knew all the little secrets!)

Cade has just met Laura after being in prison for four years, for a crime he didn't commit (but would have, you'll see what I mean). Laura is a widow having a rough time in life. I know the series is called "Blemished Brides" but Cade, the man, has his own blemished past to deal with. Really, I felt he was more blemished than Laura.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!

I always try to give as honest a review as possible, and I can't think of any reason to give this less than five stars. Cody Robert's voice is PERFECT for western romance. I hope he continues to narrate for this author.

In His Touch: Blemished Brides Book 2

Cade and Laura are two remarkably strong characters. Although they have both been put through hell by the same man, they both came away from their horrific experiences willing to love and be loved. I find that absolutely remarkable. I really enjoyed taking the journey with them as they found their Happily Ever After. I am anxiously waiting for the next book in the series. I am not sure how Peggy will outdo herself but I know that she will.

Excellent series

This is the second book in a great series. What I love is you can read as a stand alone or a the second book. Peggy is an excellent writer. She makes you feel as if you are a part of the story. I feel as if I am each and every person I read about and at the book comes too a close, I just want more. It it so refreshing to read a great book and feel great while reading and I have this book ebook but I really have enjoyed audible, it allows me the mobility to do things and listen to the story at the same time which is a win win for me. Love this and love all of Peggy Henderson's books.
