I Wish for You ~ A heartwarming Chick Lit that's funny, sweet and with a touch of supernatural. Following Ally during her journey evoked many emotions, there were times I disliked her, other times she had me laughing, but in the end, she made the right choice.
A year after James, her ex-boyfriend, abruptly ends their relationship, Ally is still unable to move on. When she learns her co-worker is dating her ex-boyfriend she slides deeper into depression, until she discovers the genie in the Coffer, and has five wishes. There are rules regarding the wishes. One important rule, she unable to use them directly for love, but puts a plan in motion to use the wishes to win James back. As Ally uses her wishes, she makes good and bad choices with them. Ally become obsessed with her plan to win James back, and ends up taking advantage of the genie named Arthur, as he must do as she commands. She also finds herself with a mystery, and is determined to find the answers to it. But in the end, when she finally gets what she's wished for, is it really what she wants?
Rhiannon Angell's performance was awesome! She has a pleasant voice, used the right amounts of tone, inflection, and pitch to portray all the different emotions. Both the female and male voices sounded great!
I received the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I Wish for You was a sweet, light read, I know I will revisit many times in my thoughts. I've always been fascinated with stories regarding genies and wishes. This one reminded me of the poem below which resonates within the story.
Wishes are mixes of magic and love.
Wishes are dreams deep in you.
Wishes are whispers you hear in your heart.
May all of your wises come true.

This was such a cute book and I really enjoyed it. It was a fairy tale yet it’s one of those stories we’d all like to believe is plausible. And, although the ending was somewhat predictable from the start, I found myself a little surprised at what happened with James. I do think that Ally pined away a little too much for James almost to the point of being naively blind but it all made for a good storyline.
I received the Audible version of this book in exchange for an honest review and the narration by Rhiannon Angell was very good!
In summary, this is a very fun story and a delightful, quick read!
