Loved it, but didn't connect to the heroine that much. Not because I disliked her, but I connect to that "not like other girls" type trope, which she was. I loved that it focused on a disabled athlete, one who wasn't sure where his post-ball career was going to go. The narrator does a good job at changing different character voices, and there was some drama that I actually liked that really amped the narrative for Damien(the hero) but it kinda sucked the only Pocs were people in service. But entertaining none the less.
I do think a normal reader would benefit from reading from the beginning, as I've read this series in a random order, but it's not necessary to do, it's just you'll encounter a lot of people you're not familiar with it you read out of sequence!
This is my favorite book in the hot zone series. Micki Jordan is the Tom boy who is tired of by just one of the boys and Damien Fuller is the center fielder that is near the end of his career that isn't ready it give up. But when they end up working together can they deny their chemistry and is there more than just a lost weekend. I loved this book because Carly Phillips brings great story of love and some quick funny lines also. Definitely read or reread this book.
