Publisher's summary

An honorable laird....

Conall MacInnes was born to a clan that for centuries has been charged with the guarding of the sacred Druids. It's a duty he has always met with a willing heart, until the day his sister, a Druid priestess, goes missing and the very Druids he has protected refuse to help him find the last remaining member of his family. Then a 300-year-old prophecy places a Druid in his hands for safekeeping. It's the chance at revenge he's been waiting for, but is he willing to pay the cost his revenge will demand - the loss of his mate and the future of Scotland?

A willing lass....

Glenna MacNeil wants only to be free, to find the purpose of her life. When she is told to look for the dark laird who would free her, she eagerly goes with the powerful Highlander who fights her clan, not realizing she has set in motion events that will change the course of history.

Major character flaws

I can't say the MC makes much sense with her presumed upbringing and petulant recklessness. I haven't heard of someone being paralyzed with arachnophobia overcoming it so quickly. Sure anything is possible but if it's not written correctly it's just fake news.

herd good stuff

I struggled to finish this one. I wanted to love it. I really did. call me a prude but, way to much graphic detail and way to simply in technique.

I would recommend that you listen to the preview clip if you are not familiar with this narrator. I have read that she is well liked but not for me.

Loved it

Ok so all things Scotland romance is usually an instant love for me but I have really enjoyed this one Ruth is one of my favorite narrators even though you do have to get use to her style (especially after listening to several other Highlander tales with narrators that have a heavy Scottish accent) but once you get accustomed to her reading style I promise she will suck you into the story. Especially love that she doesn’t try to overdo the accent she just adds her own twist to the voices. Comes out so natural and it’s hard to find a stopping point. As for the story it was well written and kept me wondering if this would be the 1st romance book that didn’t end with a happily ever after.🙈😬. Thankfully I was able to listen to it in one sitting on the road trip home from Thanksgiving break. #audiobookobsessionsreviewer

wonderful experience

this book was well written, it kept my interest from cover to cover. And Ruth Urquhart is the best narrator I have ever listened to. her voice gives the heroines of every story a sense of strength and innocents. good read, I am on the next.

The male lead was annoying

Connol wanted Glenna but couldn’t accept she was a Druid, this went on and on throughout most of the book, it became redundant and tiresome. I had a difficult time finishing the book. I won’t continue reading this series. I just wasn’t vested in the characters.

Mystical

I read the book when it first came out but I will be honest. I love it on Audible even better! The narrator does a great job on both male and female voices.

A New Prophecy!

Donna, you've done it again! Glenna is literal fire, I love her, and Conall *squee*, highlander perfection <3 can't wait for the next one, downloading it right now! Idk what's about with these other reviews about the narrative, she was amazing!

The beginning of everything!

Read a book out of order way down the line (dragon book) and realized I had to start at the beginning! Cannot wait to continue reading on!

Very good book

All in all the boom itself had a very good storyline. It kept in line and in touch with all the main characters and wasnt filled with a ton of smut like most highland romances. They made love, yes. But it wasnt over and over in graphic detail to the point where I felt overwhelmed with it. The narrator though. she has this inflection in her tone that repeats over and over again. I really struggled sticking to the book because instead of giving the character personality to their voices it droned on and on and one with a sultry husky whine. No thanks! I likely wont listen to the next one.

Highlands & Druids, beautifully narrated!

An exciting mix of magic and Highland romance beautifully narrated by Ruth Urquhart. She really brings to life the characters. I am excited to hear the next in the series!
