Publisher's summary

An unclaimed land in the Scottish isles is ruled by the male and female victors in a series of war games every five years. Named Chief and Lady of the land, they rule the vast holding and protect the people by divine right until the next game begins. After her brother's death, Ceana is named laird. The only way for her clan to survive the ravages of the Highlands is to join in the war games. Bastard son of a powerful earl, Macrath is placed in the games by his vengeful stepmother. He must survive for the ultimate retribution. Ceana can't stand the arrogant Highlander who seems to be following her, and yet she can't seem to walk away. Macrath wants nothing more than to be rid of the troublesome need to protect the warrior lass. What starts out as a race to survive turns into passion to endure together.

SO SO SO...DARK AND DEPRESSING

I'm almost finished with this listen, however, I think I will be in bed under the covers for at least a week suffering from depression!! The story was well written, well narrated and totally dark. There has not been one happy moment in this story starting with the first word spoken. Come on...this is supposed to be a "R-O-M-A-N-C-E" story. Even the intimate moments are spoiled by something or other. Not my cup of tea...I like a little smile now and then with my men!! Would I recommend this book...only if you are abundantly happy and need to tone down to total depression mode!

Great book!

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure I would when reading the description, but it turned out to be addicting and fun. The Romance package has this books steaminess rated as “hot damn”, but I am not sure I can agree. I find it barely sizzling. Either way, it’s a great adventure!

War games...!?

Start to finish this is the tale of a to the death competition where only one male and one female survive. It's brutal and gruesome and between each of the five "games" there is rape, abuse, brutality, deceit, cruelty and a love story. This story appears to end quickly yet there are so many unfulfilled questions and plot details that it is obvious this one pairs romance will spread over several books.
I often lose interest in a book if I wander away from it for any length of time.... in an audio book that maybe a hour.... yet for some reason even knowing where it had to go and what had to happen, thus no surprises, I still was compelled to finish. I have yet to decide if I want to go on to the next book in the series. I might.

Anthony Ferguson is always good!

The sex is steamy... but violence is more prevalent.

Creditworthy? If it's your kind of story it is very well done, so yes. But probably not for everyone.

Well written

I enjoyed the book very much. I cried, laughed, and rejoiced along with the characters! Can’t wait to read the other books from the author!

Grand Adventure

I totally did know if I would enjoy this audiobook by just looking at the description. I was greatly surprised by the fast paced, intricate story line and depth of characterization. Antony Ferguson performs a wonderful reading as usual.

Hunger games erotica

It's obvious what will happen in the book from the start, even when you strive and hope for a twist in the story it is dully strung it along the road on which it started. Everything boringly predictable.

Medieval Hinger Games

I have read most of Ms. Knights books and enjoyed all of them. This one however, was far too dark, evil and depressing for my taste. I enjoy reading to escape from reality, but this was too stressful a read. It seemed to be the Hunger Games in a different time period. I considered putting it back on the shelf several times. Now that it’s finished I find myself wanting to see how the rest of the series plays out. Hopefully the remainder will not be as cruel and barbaric as this one.

What a different concept. Well written and narrated. It had its sad moments. But yet still managed a happily ever after.

may the *gods be ever in your favor. x30

Rip off of several other books, obviously mostly hunger games. I usually like Eliza's books, but this one was a slog. I only finished because I hate not knowing how things finish. On that note-spoiler-I know there are sequils, but there was no climax to the final battle. it was like, "Yeah, the end battle happened, and they won." Not anywhere near as much action or suspense as the other battles...

Bana- too much like hunger game.

"Hungry Games Erotica". That the best way to explain this story. nicely put to who wrote that review. Good story a lot of action, and Gour. A little too much for me, at times. There are a few places that the langue gets too calash or modern tone and takes away from the story, a little sappy too. I knew that everyone is supposed to die somewhere in the game, I found myself started to like the other charters. I found myself hoping. that more than two can survive. I started to look for loopholes for someone to escape the games. There are a few, That I hoped were used.
