Publisher's summary

Strong telepath Elle Drake has gone missing. Even her six magical sisters cannot find her. They all agree that she is alive and something terrible must have happened or she would have contacted them. Jackson Deveau, a deputy sheriff in the small village of Sea Haven, off the northern California coast, has known that Elle is destined for him. When she disappears, he gathers with his friends, Jonas Harrington and Ilya Prakenskii, and Elle's sisters to find her and bring her safely home. But Sea Haven is no longer safe for any of them and it takes every bit of strength the combination of all the Drakes and their men to survive the coming storm.

Perfect ending to a good series.....

I put off reading this last intallment of the Drake sisters for nearly a year. The reviews were so bad, bordering on scary. I thought I don't need to depress myself and went on to other things. Still I really wanted to know how the Drakes ended up, so I finally gave in and got it yesterday. I just finished. This one was amazing and unique, it was touching, at times painful, it was all the things we all read for. It was the perfect end to a really good series.

Christine Feehan can be repetitive, if I never hear the phrase "They couldn't tell where one ended and the other one began" again in my life it would be too soon. And that phrase, or some form of it does appear in this book but still this book is absolutely my favorite of this series. Elle and Jackson's encounters in books earlier in the series were usually based on misunderstandings, a really tiresome plot device, and that was yet another reason to put off reading this book. Happily that was not the case. Elle and Jackson's relationship is solid, they learn to rely on and respect each other almost from the very beginning of this book. Which makes this book such a nice change from the rest of the books in this series.

A number of loose ends from several of the earlier books get wrapped up in this last installment, always a nice way to end a series. All the sisters and their respect others play prominent roles in this book, which if you haven't read the entire series would make it a bit hard to keep up, however if you have it's a real joy.

If you have read the rest of this series but not this book because of the poor reviews, all I can say is give it a chance, you won't be sorry.

Horrible

I'd give this minus one star if I could. Repetitious-I listened to the same drivel over and over again. Totally unrealistic people - without giving away too much plot, it suffices to say that the protagonist's behavior after being brutally abused was so unbelievable as to make the whole story absurd. And repeating the same nonsense over and over and over again did not help.

Hard to stomach...

I've listened to many of Christine Feehan's books and several of this series. However, the step by step destruction of a character in the initial, "getting to know you" stages of the book was so difficult to listen to, I lost all attachment to the narrative and was unable to continue. Rarely do I stop listening to a book. I don't quite know what the author was thinking to write these terrible scenes without first letting the reader develop some rapport/relationship/history with the character. Maybe reading the book would be better because one could merely skip over the disturbing parts and get on with the rest of the story. Sorry I can't recommend it because the series is very enjoyable.

STOP!! Before you read Book 7 (This Book)

I HIGHLY recommend you read the first 6 books in this series; then read the synopsis of this book and stop there. DON'T READ THIS BOOK!

The Drake sisters series is some of Ms. Feehan's best work but this book was HORRIBLE! It was seemingly endless physical and mental abuse of the youngest Drake sister. It was very depressing and not a happy ending but just a satisfactory ending. It is a total BUMMER!

Not her best work..

Having never read the hard copy editions, I don't know which book in the Drake Sisters series this is - But, judging from the ending, it may be the last. In my opinion, the darkness within this story far out shadowed the final resolution and the attempted Fairytale ending.

This is the story about the love and bond between Elle Drake, the youngest of the seven Drake sisters, and Deputy Sheriff, Jackson Deveau. However, Feehan took redundancy to a new high while trying to make events darker. She beat her dark horses into pulp and then put them into a meat grinder for effect. One might even venture a guess that she was paid by the word for this one - Regardless, the result of this practice made an otherwise decent story into a rather boring conglomeration of "been there, done that, got the tee shirt, glasses, album, autograph and then went back for more.." There is very little contrast in black on black on black..... Did I mention Redundancy!

Bresnahan, who usually does an outstanding performance of any book she picks up, dragged this one out beyond all reason. As the tensions got higher or the actions got darker, her reading got slower. I won't swear to it, but I think she even stopped a couple of times for effect. I ended up skipping over many sections of the book because of that practice and I honestly don't believe I missed a single pertinent point by doing so.

In conclusion, this story could have been outstanding but the development and presentation were dismal. It was not one of Feehan's better offerings.

Slow pace made this a disappointment

This wasn't as good as all the other Drake Sister's novels. This book dragged by. There was too much emotional angst and not enough action. I was relieved when it finally ended.

disappointed

The first hour tells, in detail, of the torture, rape, and psychological abuse of the main character. Very hard to listen to this. The rest of the book is a very predictable story of the defense and revenge of that main character.

Disturbing

This book is like walking into the movie theaters and thinking you are about to see a Disney Movie and instead Saw II comes on.

Not much story among the sex scenes

The performance was fine and the premise was intriguing, but after getting into the book, I was a bit bored by the graphic scenes of sex. Didn't know that there were so many methods of description.

I stopped because I was afraid the children next door might get an earful.

Some may like it, but it was more than I can handle. And, if you look at the books I purchase, I'm not prudish.

This book is awful

I listen to audio books all the time as I have a very long commute to and from work and it has to be really, really bad for me not to listen - actually I have never not finished a book. I put this one down and started again 3 times before I finally gave up. There is no humor, no light nothing but constant abuse and darkness. It was a complete waste of money and I wouldn't have even given it one star if the rating page allowed less than one star. Save your credits - get something else.
