4 stars for the story, 5 stars for the audiobook
Tucked in between Darkest Hour Before Dawn and Tried & True, Gummy Bears & Grenades is a nice little angst-free present from Charlie Cochet to THIRDS fans. The timing on this one is perfect coming right when we need it the most, and just like the rest of this series these books must be read in order.
Gummy Bears & Grenades is three and a half hours of hilarious! Mark Westfield is at his all time funniest narrating this one, and it was a pleasure to just laugh the whole way through. All the players make an appearance and lay some groundwork for future episodes in the THIRDS series.
I don’t want to give anything away, but there are so many absolutely priceless moments in this one I can’t resist just a few teasers to prick your curiosity. As fans would expect, there are some big surprises in store for Dex at his bachelor party. Hudson is too funny, he gets really drunk and starts over sharing about his lovelife with Seb (it’s always the quiet ones, right?). We also get some interesting details from Ash on the mating between feral Therians. One of the highlights is when Dex uses his match-making skills on Zach and Austen, I have a feeling their story is next and I can’t wait!
There are some sweet, heartfelt revelations mixed in with all the drunken shenanigans. Sloane shares his insecurities and we see just how far he’s come over these past four years. We also get some very interesting information from Austen about his story, which is really sad. And both Sparks and Wolf try to explain their actions, though no one is giving them much sympathy.
Gummy Bears & Grenades is a fun little peek into the lives of my favorite THIRDS agents on their down-time. In the end the guys take the opportunity to reaffirm their vows, to each other, to their family, and to their mission. Life goes on for the THIRDS agents, come what may.
Charlie Cochet’s audiobook, Gummy Bears & Grenades has it all: The great narration of Mark Westfield, who brings this awesome series to life, Cochet’s amazing cast of characters and bachelor party fun!
Dex and Sloane are counting down the days until they say “I do”. Dex and friends are headed to Dekatria to celebrate Dex’s bachelor party while Sloane spends some memorable time with his soon to be father-in-law, Tony. What could possibly go wrong? Well, we are talking about Dex so there’s no question something crazy will happen.
As always Mark Westfield injects lots of humor in his narration and I couldn’t help but laugh. The bachelor party is all kinds of fun and it’s great to see Dex having a ball and hanging out with his crew. Everyone is dressed to the nines and enjoying themselves.
With her THIRDS series author Charlie Cochet has created a world filled with humor, mystery and suspense and most important of all, romance.
Quite a few interesting things transpire throughout the night. After all, trouble seems to be Dex’s middle name. There are gummy bears in abundance as usual and chaos ensues. There’s even a surprise party crasher who at once manages to help and get under Dex’s skin.
With her THIRDS series author Charlie Cochet has created a world filled with humor, mystery and suspense and most important of all, romance. I have really enjoyed going on this journey and falling in love with not only amazing characters but the world in which they live in. And in this installment I was really happy to see Sloane and Tony spending time together. These two have come a long way throughout the series and it’s great to see the progression of their relationship.
In Gummy Bears & Grenades all of my favorite characters are here and I enjoyed getting to see them hanging out and having a good time. Listening to this novella only leaves me wanting more. I’m anxious to listen to Tried & True to see what’s next in Dex and Sloane’s lives and I cannot wait for the wedding and to see how things play out.
This series just continues to get better and better. Even though we are fast reaching the climax of the books the anticipation just builds and builds. I read new books with Mark Westfields voice in my head!
