Publisher's summary

Rhys Bellamy is the front man for the wildly successful 13 Shades of Red, a band hailing from New Orleans that is just a bit more than they appear. He's sexy, caustic, and on a path of self-destruction that has everything to do with the fact that he can speak to the dead.

A man hounded by the death of his fiancée, Rhys is a lothario of the highest caliber. His life, his band, and his agony celebrate his lost love, Phaedra, and it has made him a very popular man with the ladies, even if they will never mean anything to him. Too bad Phaedra has never and will never contact him.

When the band's first US tour meets with some unforeseen management issues, Saffron Richards is brought in to take care of it. A veteran of the business, Saffron knows all about Rhys and his reputation and doesn't want to become another notch on his belt. Too bad fate has it in for the both of them and gives them an attraction neither can deny.

Life on the road with an up-and-coming band has its problems, from bosses to groupies to just plain old flat tires. Phaedra, who has been watching from the mists and reveling in the misery of her lost lover doesn't want to see him happy.

Phaedra crosses the veils on All Hallow's Eve to reignite the love that Saffron has set to ash in Rhys. Phaedra is not giving him up without a fight. Not because she loves him but because she doesn't ever want him to forget.

A fun look backstage at a rather unique rock band

Giving Up the Ghost is a multilayered rock star romance with a touch of paranormal. Rhys Bellamy is our hero a rock star whose heart was shattered by the loss of his true love. The bands hits are songs he has written bemoaning his loss. He would have been okay if her ghost had hung around to talk to him as he can see ghosts but in all the time since she has been gone not once has she gotten in touch. Saffron Richards is the new tour manager for the band and Rhys is smitten from the first time he lays eyes on her. He has a new chance at happiness and damned if his old girlfriends ghost doesn’t show up to ruin his new start. This is a fun look backstage at a rather unique rock band and staff. I am really glad I read it and am going to get the next book ASAP.

Loved the story!

I love everything that Stella Price produces and this didn't disappoint.

I am not a fan of the narrators voice or how he made the characters sound though.

The story was really cool, it was a mix of paranormal and contemporary which I really liked. I can't wait to listen to the next of this series!

Supernatural Rock

What made the experience of listening to Giving Up the Ghost (13 Shades of Red) the most enjoyable?

Loved the rock star story. The writer being behind the emotions made you feel it even more deeply than just another story. Her personal experience of following bands made it come alive. I loved the supernatural parts of the story too, and I am looking forward to more of them.

Who was your favorite character and why?

RHYS!! You figure it out!

Fascinating

My favorite part of the fantasy/paranormal genres is the freedom and the never ending ways to twist and use different myths and creatures. This story was a ride from beginning to end and gives yet another fascinating take to the genre. Can't wait to read more.

Rock Star Paranormal

Rhys is your not your typical rock star. He has a special gift. No one can tame him, that is until Saffron. Will the ghosts haunting Rhys be able to keep them from finding happiness together. I really enjoyed this series and can’t wait for more from this series. I had a few issues with the narration do audio but it was still worth it. I do see that the narrator was changed for the rest of the series and can’t wait to find out what the next narrator does with the story of the members of 13 Shades of Red.

A Unique Mixture of Paranormal and Rock Romance!

Giving Up the Ghost is the first book in the 13 Shades of Red series by S.A. Price. A behind the scenes look at a band's life with an intriguing mixture of supernatural elements.

Giving Up the Ghost is a story I didn't know much about when I started it. Going in blind was a perfect way to start and I quickly became fascinated with the entire cast of characters. Each character held a unique feeling to them and as the story went on I became even more intrigued by the psychology of the story. What happens when the one you were so in love with dies and your grief shades the truth of who they truly were. Rhys Bellamy had obtained his obsession and then lost her again. Consumed by grief for years he finally begins to resurface, only to realize maybe his reality was only a shade of what it was. This aspect is what pushed this story to the 4 mark for me. The beginning held a few things that I didn't quite understand especially regarding Saffron. Although, I loved her character I thought a few of her actions in the beginning didn't really fit her overall personality. However, as a whole Saffron and Rhys' story is truly unique and entertaining!

The paranormal aspects were not overwhelming and just added enough to the story to enhance the depth of not only betrayal, but of true friendships.

I rate Giving Up the Ghost 4 out of 5 Bullets!

Enjoyable listening

Overall I did enjoy this story. I had to deduct a star for the cheating. I absolutely cannot stand that. I liked the characters and the narrations were well done. It was an interesting story and held my attention through the whole story.
