Getting Worked Up: Sapphire Falls, Book Two

Phoebe Sherwood is in love with the perfect man. Well, except for the fact that he's in love with someone else. But Phoebe isn't the type to let a little detail like that keep her from getting what she wants.

And as she's plotting how to get him back, she meets the perfect solution: Joe Spencer. The city boy is in town to retrieve his sort-of fiancée - the woman who stole Phoebe's man - and when he hears Phoebe's plan to reclaim their respective soul mates, he's in.

Bright and sparkly. That's Joe's first impression of Phoebe. He's always been attracted to sparkly things - like neon casino signs, sequined evening gowns, and Porsches. In fact his affinity for those things and the trouble they can cause are exactly why he's determined to change his habits and settle down.

But if he's going to win his girl back, he's going to need to learn a new way of life. Country line dancing, guzzling homemade moonshine, and getting rid of his custom-made suits are what it takes to fit into Sapphire Falls...and he's got some work to do.

Thank goodness Phoebe is the perfect coach.

And everything will be just fine...as long as they can keep their hands off of each other and remember which hearts they are trying to win over.

You should listen to this book if you like quirky small towns, over-the-top romantic gestures, hot descriptive love scenes, naughty words, and country music. You should not listen to this if you don't like - well, any of the things above.

This is another book from the romance package I found just did not do it for me.

Series

❤️ love story book 2 new characters added from the first book 📖 even though it could be a stand alone story. There are a few more books 📖 in this series that I believe builds out from characters mentioned in the previous story. Like 👍 I said it’s a love 💕 story, easy. Read good narrator... enjoy.

Sorta Kinda

I basically liked this book but two things kept me from completely enjoying it.
1) During the intimate scenes there was too much much of the wrong kind of talking, in my opinion. It was too wordy and not in the hot, sexy way.
2) The narrator wasn’t my favorite.

Didn’t see it coming

I like the idea of romance in a small town where everyone knows everyone else,a sense of community.Phoebe is an outgoing, friendly, fear nothing kind of girl,as well as a knockout even though she doesn’t know it.Joe is a risqué City boy from Sin City who’s been around the block more times than he cares to admit, then he meets Phoebe, his exact type. He’s trying to settle down and what better person to do that with is his lifelong best friend Nadia, but Nadia is in love with Phoebes best friend and crush Matt.So they devise a plan to help each other to win the hearts of their friends by pretending to be dating each other, but it back fires a lot quicker than they expected, explains that maybe what they feelings for their best friends isn’t what they thought it was not if its so easy to give in to the passion blazing through them.

Instant Chemistry

The chemistry between Joe and Phoebe was instantaneous. They had a unique meeting, as they got together for the most unconventional of reasons. They were both fun and exciting. It made them work really well together. And made for an entertaining story.

Slow burn

This has to be the slowest burn & “work up” to the actual connection than I have ever read. Parts of it annoyed me but part of it was intriguing.

Forever starts by not getting what you want

I loved Phoebe and Joe’s opposites attract, small town romance with a side of accidental love. The heartwarming story had a wonderful mix of fun, sweet, steam, real life issues, and laughs. Phoebe is a loud, energetic and sweet teacher from small town Sapphire Falls. She in love with her best friend, Matt, and has been waiting for him to be ready to settle down to make her move. When she finds out he intends to propose to his girlfriend, Nadia, she decides time is up. Joe is a PR manager and media consultant for IAS based in Sapphire Falls. His best friend is Nadia and he wants her as his calm stabilizing wife. When he hears she’s going to propose to Matt, he decides to woo her back. Since their end goals align, their joint plan is for Phoebe to help Joe become more small town so Nadia will fall for Joe and Phoebe can have Matt. Of course, the more time they spend together introducing Joe to small town life, the more their chemistry sizzled off the page and pulled them together no matter how hard they tried to resist. The book was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline with sweet moments, steamy scenes, supportive friends, imperfect characters, missteps, and all the big feels. I am excited to binge this whole series.

Kate Udall did a good job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters convincingly. I love the added dimension narration gives to a story.

Ok

I didn’t enjoy listening to this book throughout the whole thing, BUT you really have to suspend belief quite a bit to but into the plot and the details of their strategy for getting the other loves…and the drama at the end m. Pretty silly, but I still enjoyed it.
