Publisher's summary

Forget everything you know about the world. Vampires exist, Werewolves exist, monsters hide in the shadows, and it's my job to make sure they obey our laws. My name is Evelyn, and I'm a gargoyle. The last one or so I thought. A team of Gargoyles have found me. And for the first time in over a century, I'm not the only one of my kind around, which is a good thing since demons are slipping into this world fully formed.

The bodies are piling up. Something is going on in my city, and it looks like I'm going to need the backup.

Definately recommend!

I rate alot of books but not many get my lazy butt to actually write praise! Evie is a heroine I can get behind in every way. Its been awhile since Ive been so happy with the female lead. I absolutely adore how she is so badass and strong, as well as scholarly smart and independent. Although who wouldn't be after 100 years of youth, am I right!? She's no whiner, she isn't faint of heart and thank you thank you..she doesn't overthink every tiny thing, she knows what she wants and commits to her choices come what may. No over the top phyco mental babble here!! yay! Go Evie! I haven't finished the book yet, but was excited to share.

I just can't

Zahur sounds like Dumbledore and Evelyn sounds like Peppa Pig. They are bad ass Gargoyle hotties, this should be taken into consideration when using a voice.

Love this story - can’t wait for more!

I’ll be honest, I read this book on kindle when it first released. I love this author, and I love this series. The plot is unique and I enjoy the characters.

I have one complaint; I may be a bit of an audiophile like Lexie (per her definition). I can’t listen to the male actor’s voice for Zahur without hearing Voldemort from the HP movies.

Not a huge deal, because there’s not a ton from his POV, and I’m probably just a crazy person, but I struggled a bit with just that one thing.

Overall, I loved it!

Ummm Yes!

Yes! What s great start to a new series! I now must go find more of her stuff because I need a distraction from the fact that I can’t read more of this one!

Congratulations to both the author, narrators, and you the reader!

Wow

I was really liking this book until the end. Evie is a great heroine. She's strong, determined and has really made her place in the world. Then she just agrees to be a good little wifey and stay home while the big tough men go out and kill demons. It was so irritating that she completely gave into their unwillingness to see her as anything other than a helpless, pathetic female, even though they knew she was more than capable. The only one who actually respected her, of course, wasn't her mate. This honestly ruined the book for me and I don't even think I can finish it.

I liked the female narrator but wasn't a fan of the male narrator. His female voices were fine but Zahar sounded like a little old man and his Scottish accent was just bad. I really don't see a need for two narrators, Kensington could easily handle the entire book.

Not bad, felt like a very long story....

Overall, pretty good. Keep in mind, cliffhanger so just be aware of that. Little drawn out for my liking...

What kind of torture...?!?!

How do you make such an amazing book and not have the rest for sale anywh8ere?? I want book 2 and 3. Please and thank you.

I'm a contemporary romance reader but this book was amazing! I could write a book about the author's style, how she held my attention, the attention to detail, multiple POV for various characters and how she introduced stories that you just KNOW will be books 2 amd 3. BUT WHERE ARE THEY?!

Wonderful story.

I discovered this title while exploring for something new to listen too. The synopsis sounded interesting so I gave it a try. This is a fabulous story.
***It is part one and ends in a cliffhanger.
The characters are interesting. They all have distinct personalities that develop throughout the story. The support characters enhance the development of the plot and leave you anticipating their stories in the future. Evelyn is a strong female character who has been successfully independent for a long time. While she appreciates the comfort of discovering others of her own kind, she doesn’t allow them them to dictate her life. The males are attempting to control their instinct to be overprotective, but she doesn’t hesitate when letting them know they are being annoying, or to ignore them and do what she needs to. The author does a good job establishing the foundation of the characters behaviors, allowing you to like them even when they are being irrational.
I hope the second installment of the series is available in audiobook soon!

I love Gargoyles what can I say?

I absolutely love Gargoyles, and I know this fact alone has made me a bit bias in my judgment of this book. Reading the blurb, I was expecting a lot more. I was expecting lots of detailed descriptions of the Gargoyles, and at least some of the many wonderful Gargoyle traits I have come to expect when reading fiction about Gargoyles to shine through, there was not a whole lot in this book. For goodness sakes we did not even get a description of what their Gargoyle forms look like, aside from the fact they could sprout wings. One would think reading this author's take on Gargoyles the only time they are in their alternative forms are when they are stone.
Aside from the slow moving pace of this book and the lack of descriptiveness, I don't want you to think I did not enjoy this book, or find it entertaining, there were things I didn't like, however, there are good parts as well; there were a lot of tall sexy muscular guys, there were a few good fights, and adventurers. And the best part of all was the heroine was not a stupid, shallow, spoiled, codependent, little twit like you are used to seeing in so many romance novels. Even though the attitude of her male was condescending and bullheaded in the beginning ( he did improve as the novel went on).
I can say, I'm looking forward to the next book, if for nothing but it's redeeming qualities. And of course the fact again it's about Gargoyles and I can't resist.

An exhilarating read!

Loved the men Evie had around her that protected and adored her but not in a sexual way. They were like her brothers but I did get upset often by how her love/mate Atticus was so chauvinistic towards her that I wanted to just slap him! However, she was such a kick a$$ fighter that she didn't let him. She stuck up for herself and the guys respected her for it. I am confused on the ending though.....is this a stand alone book or is there book 2? There just has to be. What about Cyrus? There was no explanation about Atticus issues with adopted dad Cyrus. Left so many unanswered questions but the last chapter said "epilogue "?? I also loved the different POV from several of the other characters especially her best friend Astrid and Ranulf and potential other love interests with the other guys. But more than anything.......I'm ecstatic that there is NO LOVE TRIANGLE!!!!!!! That's why I won't be reading this authors other series "the Veil Diaries ". I hate reverse harems and triangles!
