Looking forward to Grip

I’m a big fan of Kennedy Ryan. I thought this book had a little too much “lessons for white girl listeners” (okay, some were helpful), but I still enjoyed it and look forward to Grip.

Good prequel

I love when I can get some back story to something before it starts. Narrators were dope. Did not see the end coming. Going to the next book now.

Amazing Storyline

This only being the second book I've experienced by this Kennedy Ryan, I am pleased to say her books are just that.... An experience! I absolutely love these storylines. Chefs kiss! The only thing I found difficult to move passed in this book was the female narrator's voice of Grip. It was hard to imagine him as a rapper from Compton when she made him sound like a country bumpkin from Alabama. It made me cringe when she so effortlessly said the N word as you would hear a black person say it but nothing else. JD will probably always be one of my favorite male narrators so no complaints there. Overall, the writing was fantastic and I'm excited to read all of her books!

Kennedy Ryan has quickly become a favorite author to me. Flow is EVERYTHING! Bristol and Grip have the makings of a great relationship. Jakobi Diem did a fantastic job of narrating and his sexy voice is sooo hot 🔥. Maxine Mitchell was also great as the female narrator. Can’t wait to listen to more of this series!

Tiny book, big story

I don't normally read a lot of prequels because not much tends to happen but, WOW! This felt more like a full length novel and I'm immediately going to be picking up Grip.

Loved every second of it

Holy heck, batman! I am kicking myself for not moving this up my queue sooner. I don’t think, scratch that, I know, I have never been so affected by a prequel.

So many thing were dealt with in this novella that it actually made me sit in awe that somebody could write so beautifully and move between such subjects with ease and fluidity. Kennedy Ryan is a word goddess, I know that isn’t news to those that already read her, but to me, it’s such a pleasure to find out.

These characters are freaking awesome. Grip, oh man, I love him, I’ll take a taste of his chocolate any day! And Bristol, this woman, I ADORE her! She takes no prisoners, I’m picky AF when it comes to heroines, and Bris? She’s my girl. Let’s just call them my book couple. The chemistry and sexual tension between them was off the freaking charts, Yet they could have meaningful and profound conversations, it was beautiful to experience.

And the end, that ending, I knew it, I just knew as soon as the scene set up, but I thought, surely not, Kennedy wouldn’t play me like this? She wouldn’t make me ship this couple this hard to throw it in my face. You know what? She would!

I didn’t doubt that I’d enjoy Kennedy’s words, she has such an amazing vibe to her that I knew I’d love it, but I never expected to fall this in love with the characters and storytelling. I need more, which of course, after that ending *gives side-eye* I was glad I’d already downloaded Grip. Pressing play on that baby in the morning.

The narration was great. Jakobi Diem was fabulous as Grip, and I really enjoyed the cadence of his voice and the inflections he used to express the emotions of the scene and character. His female voice is wonderful, but Grip, swoon. I could listen to it all day. I had moments were I really enjoyed Maxine Mitchell’s performance, and then there were times when I wasn’t sure if it was for me. Perhaps, I just need to listen to more of her work. I did think the emotional scene were fantastic, and she has a great male voice. It’s definitely a me not you situation, so don’t let that deter you from listening to this fantastic book.

Grabbing the hardcopy

The story has a lot of promise; however, I couldn't get through it due to the woman's narration. It was too distracting for me. She's probably great for a different book. I will be grabbing the hardback for this trilogy because I am really intrigued.

Decent story

The male narrator is one of my favorites so that's why I picked this one. He did an excellent job. This was a different type of love start story. A decent listen.

holy jeez!

As always, I am late to the party of epic books. And this was only the prequel... the full length novel still awaits me. Two novels actually. hallelujah! And these narrators are top notch!
