Publisher's Summary

Being robbed at gunpoint wasn't part of Sarah Tucker's business plan. Neither was falling in love with the detective who arrived to solve the case.
All Sarah wants is success for her gift boutique, the one she and her husband created. Now, she's living a hand-to-mouth existence. Her husband died a year earlier in a car accident-an accident that was ruled suicide, denying her his life insurance money. Burdened by guilt that she was somehow to blame for his death, Sarah faces one business setback after another.
Determined to succeed on her own, she fights off a meddling sister-in-law as well as offers of financial assistance from a former boyfriend. Unaware someone is setting her up for failure, she's totally unprepared to find herself fighting for survival.
Police Detective Randy Detweiler thinks the crook is a thief who's been evading cops all over the state. A routine robbery investigation turns into the biggest challenge of his career when he falls in love with the victim, and he starts crossing professional boundaries. When Sarah disappears, he's afraid all his detective skills might not be enough to find her in time to save her life.

Solid but in a Time Warp

Have you listened to any of Kelley Hazen and Storyteller Productions ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I haven't listened to her before, but she had a good voice for the range of characters in the story. I enjoyed her performance very much.

Any additional comments?

I really wanted to give this story four stars. The characters were down to earth and likeable. The stalker was the villian instead of the hero. And I had a lot of empathy for Sarah. Unfortunately, everyone was using nineties technology. Answering machines, computers that used disks for back up, and even a VCR. The characters referenced better technology in other places, so it seemed like it was supposed to be taking place now, but for whatever reason they were still busy Faxing. At least the villian should've had all the latest greatest stuff because he was a corporate man with a good salary. I had a hard time buying that his best untraceable method was an answering machine in a forgotten closet at his corporation rather than a burner phone.

Otherwise it was a good suspense with a strong ending.

Compelling Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This novel captures a nice combination of suspense and romance - just enough to satisfy readers of either genre.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Finding Sarah?

That moment where Randy and Sarah are at the play watching The Mousetrap, and she instantly recognizes the voice of one particular actress. That set up a fascinating twist on the building mystery story and was brilliantly executed.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Sarah instructs Randy to drive to the graveyard so they can each confront the ghosts (of Sarah's dead husband and of Randy's dead grandmother)

Any additional comments?

This was a great story featuring intriguing characters and a curious mystery that kept me listening right until the end. The relationship between Randy and Sarah was compelling and satisfying and the novel contained a nice blend of mystery with a charming touch of romance. Odell has done a very nice job of setting up a fascinating universe of characters in Pine Hill, Oregon. That certainly makes me eager to read the next book in this series.
