Publisher's Summary

Every fighter is drawn to the violence, the release that a perfect hit can bring.
But very few are drawn to the pain.
Rex Carter lives behind a wall of indifference. The demons from his childhood act as an anesthetic, keeping him distant from emotional connections. Only the ache from a knock to the jaw, the sting of a tattoo needle, or the heat from a piercing can jolt him back from the numbness. The fiery pain is all he can feel, and nothing compares to the burn.
Or so he thought.
Working in a Las Vegas bar isn't Georgia McIntyre's dream. But she hopes it'll be an end to the nightmare.
She's watched him, followed him and kept tabs, all in preparation for this moment: to make amends and share the secret she's been carrying since she was a kid. But she didn't count on the feelings that seeing him again would stir up, the vacant look in his stormy-blue eyes, and his perfect body now mutilated by ink and metal.
And she knows why. She's lived his pain every single day, since the day he left.
Changed by time, Rex doesn't remember the girl from his past. If only she could do the same.
Will she get the absolution she's spent her life seeking?
Or will he continue Fighting to Forget?

I've listened to many stories about overcoming adversity. Now, Fighting to Forget is one of my favorites. I should note, it was not without its extremely tough/dark moments where I wasn't sure I could stay focused on the bigger picture. Rating and reviewing this one is a tough call because it triggers so many different emotions, and like any book centered around a particular trauma that causes physical and emotional scars, it may not be for every reader/listener, but its worth giving it a try. I love JB Salsbury's style of writing, and it was beautifully written. Furthermore, with two great narrators, they truly brought these characters and the story to life in bold, vivid color! Passionate, is an understatement in terms of the narration.

The journey for both Rex and Georgia Mac to find peace, acceptance, love, you name it, was heart-wrenching and wonderful. I loved it.

Heartbreaking and exciting. This was an excellent story. Hated the separation but other than that great read. Must read this one.

Fighting to forget.

So far, this one is my favorite. The others were good, but this one had more feeling. The two main characters had more of a connection.

The book was funny, sad, and very emotional at times. loved Rex and Mac/Gia.

Who was your favorite character and why?

gia and rex are both strong on so many different levels and complement each other perfectly it would be impossible to choose between them

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not gunna lie this was an emotional rollercoaster so much stuff has happened to both characters you really can't ignore it or push it away little part of you thinks that they need to talk to their friends about it but another part thinks that could make things harder and no one really wants to be destroyed with the weight of sympathy and pity but responsibility to each other need of freedom and life love without a pain gia and rex can finally begin

Any additional comments?

Hands down struggle story with a sliver lining and i loved it
