Publisher's summary

Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend Samantha's school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school, and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn't care at all - about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parents' divorce. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.

being rich and hot excuses being an ass

Would you listen to Fallen Crest High again? Why?

No. I thought the story of Samantha was a good story and had something to say but her falling for Mason ruined it. Mason because he is so handsome, good athlete, rich and charismatic is given a free ride with no consequences to being a total spoiled ass. He is a bully and treats all lesser people as he sees them as pawns.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I wouldn't made the main love interest a spoiled brat and ass. Mason is the stereotype of what is wrong with most professional athlete. His behavior ninety percent of the time was inexcusable. I kept waiting for Sam to wake up and see what he was but the story endorses the fantasy and behavior.

Which scene was your favorite?

None really except frustration when I realized how the book was going to end. The story of Samantha was a good one if it had not been tainted by the Mason story line.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Sam's long runs and how she felt about them and the inability of any adult in her life to see her downward spiral

Any additional comments?

The author has real talent. if she can get away from the fantasy that the male love interest has to be a bad boy, rich, incredibly handsome, super athlete, and have disdain for everyone and everything and act like an ass to show how special he is she could write a really good novel. .

Mixed Emotions About This Book

Would you listen to Fallen Crest High again? Why?

No, I can't listen to it again. Although I was hooked right from the start, I couldn't figure out just why. The story rambled quite a bit. After the first half of the book, I wasn't really sure where it was going and what the point was. It was like the book was finished at the halfway point and then the author added page after page of pointless and over-the-top confrontations between various characters.
The way the teenagers treated the adults was appalling. The way the teenagers treated each other was appalling. The way Samantha interacted with the guy she ends up with made me cringe. For example, he would walk up to her, say a few words, PICK HER UP LIKE A CHILD, holding her with his hands under her bottom and her arms around his neck, and have a conversation with her. A serious non-sexual conversation. Then he'd have a conversation with someone else who happens to walk by, while still holding her this way. This happened more than once. UGGGHHH. I couldn't stand it. Keep in mind I'm an adult. Maybe teenagers wouldn't be bothered by the things that bothered me.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending? Hahaha! Nothing happened. I can't even remember the ending because nothing got wrapped up. This is book 1 in a series though, so...

What does Saskia Maarleveld bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think she did a decent job because her narrating didn't stand out while I listened. That's good. But, she's not my favorite. I've heard better.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It was addicting. It was nauseating. I can't decide if I liked it or not.

Any additional comments?

There are several books in this series. I haven't decided if I will listen to book 2 or not. Maybe the writing gets better? Maybe there's an actual plot? If so, I would definitely take a chance on the next book.

Amazingly Bad

Any additional comments?

Its hard to even comment on a book that was so bad. I was curious about Tijan's books and since this one was on sale I tried it out. There is absolutely no plot. The characters are ridiculous and completely one dimensional. Its reads like a 9th graders attempt at a novel. Its hard to separate the narrator from the book content, but both seemed boring. Often there was far too much dramatic emphasis placed on mundane text. I listen to a lot of books on my long commute and for me this was top 5 worst of all time. I truly can't imagine where these 5 star reviews are coming from but to each their own. BTW - I have nothing against this genre. Just the story itself.

Yes please

I loved this book. the character dynamics. Sam's life goes through so many changes at an impressionable time in her life. I was hooked from the beginning and drank it up. The characters were deep, the drama large and my happiness off the charts. Loved it.I love the chemistry between mason and Sam~

Last but not least- narration was great!

Worst Writing - Possibly Ever

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I can't think of anyone.

What was most disappointing about Tijan’s story?

The character development, writing, where to begin?

Did Saskia Maarleveld do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I liked the narrator. She she did what she could will a terrible script.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fallen Crest High?

Can someone please provide Tijan with a thesaurus and an ability to describe a scene, character, and/or situation? The basic premise was interesting enough, but how many times can she say the lead male character was "going in for the kill", "gave a look that could kill", etc. The male leads command respect - but I can't quite grasp why they receive it. Because they are good looking? (It's hard to say, because I still don't know what color hair they have, how tall they are, or what kind of build they posses - that's all left out!) Because they have money? (They say they have their own money quite frequently, but it's never explained how/why.) The female lead has an eating disorder that is apparently championed by the author, and a chip on her should so large it should stem from years upon years of abuse - but, at least from this book, she is only dealing with the separation of her "parents". Which, understandably could cause turmoil, but at this level? It's beyond putting aside basic common sense for the purpose of enjoying a story - it's all completely silly.

Any additional comments?

Pass on this book. It's frustrating. You'll find yourself yelling at the narrator and questioning the characters motivations. I don't hold high expectations while reading this sort of "young adult" drivel, I enjoy them more for the entertainment value, but even I was disappointed in this. I can't believe this was published.

The worst book I have ever read.

The sex scenes are pitiful and there are too many secondary characters to keep track of. The characters have no depth and the love story with Mason ( SPOILER ) seems fake. Really I paid 27$ for this. Waste of money and time.

Do yourself a favour

I had this book on my device for a long time before actually listening to it. I have no real words to describe this. I finished this book in one go. I haven't slept in two days. But I finished this book. I kept on replaying certain parts. I never really leave reviews. It's good or it's bad. Simple. I can honestly say that this is one of the very few romance books I'll never forget. I had 3 shocks in this book. The last time that happened was when I read a Sidney Sheldon book called "Tell me your dreams". These books never ever really have any surprises. Even if they don't build up to the 'surprise', you always kinda suspect what's about to happen. This book left me clueless until the actual moment of the surprise. And what I love most is that the intro doesn't tell you who is gonna land up together. I kept on changing my mind about who I think she'll end up with.

I know this review is almost the same length of the book, but I wish I could contact the author and congratulate him / her. To read something unique after 33 years of reading, well that wants to be done. I will NEVER remove this book from my device. And I am going to write my next blog post about this book. I already decided.

Read it read it read it. Or don't. And die of boredom...

Awesome and Mesmerizing!

Loved this story! The characters and writing were excellent. It had surprises, sexual tension, conflict, family interaction, sex and power plays.
I couldn't stop reading, it was perfect.
The characters were relatable and amazing,
with the development and experiences that they
went through. I am excited to see the next book in this series. This story was smokin hot!!!

Part 1

Spoilers. When Becky click her heels together, I started laughing. That part was hilarious because I could see through my eyes. Lol, Becky, has me dying laughing. I hope Sam continues to be her friend lol. Throughout the next books. This book has some funny parts in it more so, when Logan and Becky around lol. He Adam may as well gone and date Becky because everyone he ends up with always ends up banging Logan lol. Tsk, the kid can't catch a break. Omg, he said "bees must of bit my Ass cheek to see you here." her dad her real father Is hilarious, and Logan is funny man whereas Mason is so serious. I hope to read the book about him soon. But I do feel like Samantha, can and is RUDE as heck. Especially to her "FATHER'S" David and um Garrett. Like bih your mom is so rude and disrespectful to you. And your dad's want to be there, and you mean. Like all these children who wants their father in their lives. I know this book fake but man she annoying at times with that attitude. Logan, I love that boy, freaking hilarious omg. I'm dead. He like me speaks his mind and funny asl. Lordy, the things he said to his parents and Samantha parents Lord man funny omg. Dude, I'm done. The other part of the ending chapter 39 where her friends thinks Samantha is dating Logan and not Mason. Lmao, not only them but everyone else. Like um, no one assume it's Mason like what? This book was good can't wait until I read well start to listening to part 2 of this book. I been wanting to READ this book for awhile now and finally did. I want Logan to find some type of happiness.

I have always loved this book.

Out of necessity (meaning too little time to re-read, but plenty of listening time), I snagged the whole series. The audiobooks is just as addicting as the ebook. I was a witch when I was pulled away from it.

Never get in the way of a woman and the Kades.
