Publisher's Summary

Born in the blood of Sierra Leone's Civil War, enslaved, then sold to the US as an orphan, Base Branch operative Sloan Harris is emotionally dead and driven by vengeance. With no soul to give, her body becomes the bargaining chip to infiltrate a warlord's inner circle. The man called the Devil killed her family and helped destroy a region.
As son of the warlord, Baine Kendrick will happily use Sloan's body if it expedites his father's demise. Yet, he is wholly unprepared for the possessive and protective emotions she provokes. Maybe it's the flashes of memory...two forgotten children drawing in the dirt beneath the boabab tree...but he fears there is more at stake than his life.
In the Devil's den with Baine by her side, Sloan braves certain death and discovers a spirit for living.

Read on Kindle first. Listened on Audible.com and it gave it more tingling suspense. Well done Mrs. Mitcham !

Wow, I thought this story rather cheesy. Narration

Wow this book was pretty cheesy. Not very good at all. The heroine Sloan and the hero Baine were both really hard to like. The relationship between these two was so unrealistic and forced. The chemistry was dull and I have to tell you in my opinion one of the worst written sex scenes I have read in a long time.

The story line and plot was just ridiculous to be honest. Some really cheesy dialogue to boot. A house party for a week or so in the mansion of one of the worst "villains" how happens to be Baine's father. She is pretending to be a call girl throughout this week. She wants vengeance against his father for what he did to her parents. He hates is father for being an evil jerk (cant say cuss words on audible). of course these two fall in love on day 3. Sigh..

As for the narration, well it could have been so much better. The narrator needs to work on female voices for sure. It was like he didn't even try. Everyone sounded like a man. Didn't care for it at all. His reading was a bit off putting too. Not a fan of this narrator. Give me Eric Dove or Robert Petkoff any day. Or at least a male narrator that tries.
