Most monotonous love triangle - weakest girl ever!

This novel last eight hours and seven minutes, about 8 hours too long. The plot of the book is about a love triangle between Nixon and Chase who both have a thing for Traci all set in the back drop of the mafia controlled high school. I have to say, I have never read a weaker characterization of the girl, Traci, in any novel of this genre ever! The author presented her as a simpering, co-dependent, fragile china doll, who can't barely even think let alone sort out a relationship. The two men didn't fair much better in terms of the authors depth other than 'I Love You' no but wait, 'I love you more'. 'No you take her" lines. after a half hour such drivel and then we have seven and half hours more to go. The plot was like watching a ping-pong match between two amateurs only intent on returning each others volley -- the white ping-pong ball being the girl. Back and forth over the net again and again with the same choices the same dialog - over, and, over, and over, and over ... You get my drift. I kept waiting, hoping -- but no joy!

The only bright spot was at the very, very end where a sub-character woman steps up and makes it more interesting (see my seven minutes comment). If the next book is about her, maybe you should give it a read. But for this book, it is a define NO! Don't bother. Find someone who listed or read it and let them tell you about it -- it will save a lot of time.

Better as a book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I really liked the book (I had read it previously) but the narrator is not good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Elect?

The story is great-a bit romeo and juliet with a new adult setting!

Would you be willing to try another one of Douglas Berger’s performances?

most likely not.

Was Elect worth the listening time?

I loved the story. If I didn't know I loved the book, I don't know I would have stuck with the narrator.

Fantastic narration, fab story

Book 2 in the Eagle Elite series continues with Nixon pushing Trace into Chase's arms for the greater cause. Whilst Chase understands Nixon's reasons, Trace as usual is left in the dark. Nixon has loved Trace nearly all his life, and he will do anything to protect her, even if it means watching her with his best friend Chase, who also thinks himself in love with Trace. Trace who has not yet had time to adjust to her mafia family ties is left with Chase protecting her following her grandfathers unexpected need to go into hiding, and Nixon's determination to keep her at arms length. With secrets, betrayal and so much passion I loved spending my days with these families and even though Trace and I picked the best man, I won't spoil it for you. In my eyes there was never any competition. Team Chase or team Nixon, choose one and stick with him, as a heads up I've just started the next book so I'm hoping that eventually they both get their happy endings. Beautifully written in multiple POV, a complete must read for all Elite fans and I must say, one of my favourite mafia series to date.
