Wanted: Wife....5 STAR fun~~~~
Plot: divorced and very bitter rancher Reese~ takes out an ADD for a wife.
Reese Duncan has a run down ranch and lots of debt from his divorce from ex wife April. He wants children and needs a "wife" so he takes out an ADD in the paper. Socialite Madelyn Patterson has looks and money~ but spots the ADD. She replies to the wife wanted ADD. This is fun from the beginning. Reese sends her a bus ticket and she arrives in a plane. He lays out his rules from the beginning. He is bitter and distrustful of women...all women. Maddy and Reese find their marriage is full of passion. Reese wants to make all the 'rules' in the marriage. Maddy and Reese work the run down ranch and plan for the baby they both want. When Maddy pays off the ranch debt Reese is livid. This is a form of betrayal in Reese's eyes...... She is not following his 'plans' and he takes it out on her. Pregnant Maddy decides she has taken enough "crap" from Reese and packs her bags and moves out. But moves down the road to "Flora's Café" and is hired as a waitress. How DARE she move out and take "his baby" ....away from the ranch? The fun begins when dominate male/husband Reese arrives to "drag" the unwilling bride home. LOL. When a LOUD NO ....has Reese stomping out of the diner. Reese has to "court' his own wife with an audience of customers and Flora. You will laugh out loud at this. And Maddy finds she can teach an old dog/husband a few new tricks. This is an excellent audiobook. Lesa Lockford is good reader. This story moves along and keeps us interested. The passion is HOT. The road to happiness for Reese has plenty of pot holes....but the ending is fun and worth it. I give the 5 STARS~ Lockford continues to improve her skills with each new book. This is one of the BEST of the early Linda Howard books. Look for another....excellent Linda Howard early gem....HEARTBREAKER in October by Dreamscape media and audible.

Linda Howard Classic!!! One Of My Favorites.
What did you love best about Duncan's Bride?
I have always loved a story with a strong man and a stronger woman. Madeline was a loving wife but not Reece's doormat .
What other book might you compare Duncan's Bride to and why?
Sarah's Child
Which character – as performed by Lesa Lockford – was your favorite?
Madeline's character was my favorite. She portrayed her just as I had always thought of her from the original book which I read many years ago.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction. It was like getting to visit an old friend in a new way. Loved this book in audio.
Any additional comments?
The narrator was well chosen. I enjoyed this audio very much.
