This series just keeps getting better, and I think Kyle is my favorite of the heroes. I am not sure how that happened, since he is not an actual Walker brother, but there is something about this man that is primal and fiercely brave while tender and protective. Myla is sought out by Alvarez while working and there is something about her that he likes. Now in his clutches, there is no escape, especially if she wants to keep her sister, Kara alive. Kyle has been tracking Myla for the past year, and when hired to do security for Alvarez, is given the task of guarding Myla. Their story from there is both fearsome and comforting. Think that is a contradiction? Certainly is, but when you listen to this book, there are so many emotions that you feel, one minute entirely frightened that there is no way out, and the next that wave of being unconditionally protected that it is the exact way I was feeling. Jones has woven the entire Walker brothers cast into this book, so there are many loose ends that are tied up, but more unanswered questions pop up. With Asher in the wings, I am anxiously awaiting his story and how the next chapter will play out.
This is the first of the series to have a dual narration with Eric Michael Summerer and Susannah Jones, giving the story more depth. I love dual narrations, I think it gives a story a different kind of voice. Summerer is amazing, and I love his style of performance. He is very good at giving the emotions necessary in this type of book. This is my first listen to Susannah Jones who I found very good, great pace and wonderful character voicing. She was an excellent Myla.
The concept seem inviting and intriguing.... totally misleading. Its boring as heck. It's just missing something. I actually fell asleep at Ch 6. The narrators are the only positive.
