Publisher's Summary

Here is the third book in the much-loved Hamish Macbeth series from the author of the best-selling Agatha Raisin series.
The most hated man in the most dour town in Scotland is sleeping with the fishes, or more accurately, has been dumped into a tank filled with crustaceans. All that remains of the murdered victim are his bones. But once the lobsters have been shipped off to Britain's best restaurants, the whole affair quickly lands on the plate of Constable Hamish Macbeth.
Exiled to the dreary outpost of Cnothan, Macbeth sorely misses his beloved Lochdubh, but before he can head back home he must first contend with a detective chief inspector who wants the murder hushed up, a dark-haired lassie who is out to seduce him, and a killer who has made mincemeat of his last victim - and will no doubt strike again.

I keep buying these!

M. C. Beaton is a genius at creating interesting characters and linking them together in complicated situations. Hamish is a fun main character with many endearing qualities. As the village Bobby he is not afraid to use unconventional methods to solve the murders that keep coming his way. Lochdubh and surrounding area must be the most dangerous place in the world, even more dangerous than Midsomer!

I will probably purchase this entire series over time as I find they are an enjoyable way to fall asleep at night. Then if I wake up in the middle of the night I go back and continue listening and fall asleep again. It takes me a long time to get through a book this way but It seems to work better than sleeping pills and is much more enjoyable.

I recommend these books for light, fun listening, pure entertainment with no graphic sex or bad language.

Death in the Highlands

This is a well written book with the right balance of humor and mystery. Hamish runs into murder and a group of eccentric characters in another Highland village. Hamish has some personal growth and I look forward to seeing how this affects his relationship with Priscilla in the future.
