Publisher's Summary

On Christmas morning, Solitude, Oregon, unwraps murder....
This wasn't how Police Chief Zane Duncan expected to spend his first Christmas with fellow officer and girlfriend Stevie Taylor. But when a local motel calls in the discovery of a dead body, the couple's holiday takes a grim turn. This is the second murder in Solitude within the week, despite the fact that their primary suspect is already in custody. Together, Zane and Stevie must face a disturbing truth - their small town may be harboring two killers.
As their investigation digs deep into the backgrounds of newcomers and longtime residents alike, Zane and Stevie also struggle to adjust to life under the same roof. Even if the stress of homicides and cohabitation don't bring an end to the couple, the murderer lying in wait just might.

Excelllent cop novella; great narration

This novella is the second in the Rogue Winter series by Kendra Elliot. The setting is in rural Oregon like most of Ms. Elliot's novels. It is a worthwhile listen with outstanding narration by Kate Rudd.

Best Narration EVER..

What a great little read. I liked the storyline and the characters: Seth and Carly, Stevie and Zane, Patsy, James, Bruce, and I liked Amber Lynn even though she was dead during the whole book. The way everyone talked about her it was sad she had to die. She really seemed like a nice person.

Oddly enough, as goofy as Travis was I kinda liked him. He was just such stupid bad guy you really couldn’t help but think he wasn’t all bad.

Like all these little books by Ms. Leigh there was no sexual tension, no sex and no swearing. BUT you could feel the love that Seth and Carly felt for each other.

As to the narration: What can I say? If I could give Kate Rudd 20 stars I would. I have never heard a book read with every kind of emotion out there. When it called for shouting she shouted and when Seth accused Travis of killing Amber Lynn the tone of his voice was absolutely amazing. I mean, the surprise, the voice breaking, the total innocence. And when Patsy had that gun on the intruder you just knew she meant every word she said to him. Everyone in the book had his own distinct voice. The men were the best I've ever heard from a female narrator. Brava, Ms. Rudd. If you're going to read that well I'm going to watch for all your newer books.
