Publisher's summary

It happens whenever wolf shifter Roni Axton is near Marcus Fuller: a crackle of sexual awareness that's intoxicating...and deeply annoying. Marcus is a pack enforcer who oozes power, but Roni is lethal in her own right - nothing like the flirty females who flock around him. Even still, his possessive gaze makes one thing clear. Marcus has singled her out for seduction, and he wants to make her sit up and beg.

No matter how aloof and unfazed Roni acts, Marcus can tell she wants him. When a brutal attack by a jackal pack forces them to work together, it's the perfect opportunity for Marcus to chip away at her defenses - until he falls into his own trap, completely unprepared for the intensity of their connection. Roni is the only one who's ever seen past his shifter charm and discovered the man hiding beneath it. And for Marcus, claiming Roni once will mean needing her forever.

The Best One in The Series!

So far, this is my favorite story in the series.

I like these stories because there is a plot and action but they have a lot of steamy romance. However, the other books in the series seemed to have more bad language during these scenes and the male characters had to be dominate. In this story, it was more balanced which has made this my favorite book in the series.

Loved it! Now I just have to wait for the next book!

Steamy.

Another hot book by Suzanne Wright. The pages were steaming with this book. So if you are a fan of the series pick it up. I still love the first book best, with the third my least favorite. I wish there was a little more action, but for a romance it is great. I love the characters in this book and can't wait for the next couple to have their book, I'm hoping it's Ryan's book. Since it has been awhile since I read the other books and I did need a bit to remember all the characters, but the one I forgot most was Roni (Nick's Sister from book 3) although it came back quickly. I got this book/audio for $5.98 total using the Whispersync feature. Narrator does an awesome job.

ANOTHER HOW-HOW-HOWLING SUCCESS

If it's a Shifter romance that you're looking for then you've come to the right place because Suzanne Wright has delivered yet another winning combination of romance, drama, suspense and sex. Roni is an Enforcer she's fiercely independent, kick-ass and doesn't make friends easily but when she does she's a kind, loyal and loving friend. She has a wicked sense of humor and is always playing very humorous tricks on her poor Brothers but they ask for it by playing tricks on her too. As a teen she was nearly raped and, even now, everyone tries to protect her which is the last thing she wants or needs. Marcus is all looks, charisma and charm who loves the ladies but when you look beneath his polished exterior he's a complex man haunted by a history that he has no intention of repeating.

Every time Roni sees Marcus her pulse pounds and she is aware of their sexual connection and attraction. Which is good because Marcus intends to seduce her into his bed because he, and his wolf, are drawn to the prickly unsociable woman and he's quite confident and happy that Roni can't be his mate because a Seer has described his mate and what sort of life they will have which Marcus doesn't ever want. Even though neither of them are looking for their mates they eventually can't help but add all the signs up and they all point to the same conclusion.... mates.

But the secondary drama and angst is provided by a pack of Jackals who are kidnapping Shifters to taunt, abuse, torture and kill - all whilst happily filming the bloody acts. Slowly the Mercury and Phoenix Packs have to piece together clues in the hope that they will finally be able to find the elusive Shifters who are responsible for so many untimely and bloody deaths. And when they eventually track them, and the cold sadistic ringleader, the fangs, claws and fur goes flying.

This was lol funny with humorous quips and one liners but it is also a passion-filled and very hot account of how two unsuspecting Shifters found everything they needed when they least expected it. And, through many trial and tribulations, they found the inner peace that had eluded them. Dual POV's, a fun, sexy and very addictive storyline that was brilliantly narrated because there are a lot of interesting characters and each person had a distinctive voice and this is a narrator who can do sexy male voices that are just yummy.

Worth a credit? I would've gladly used a credit on this listen but I didn't have to as it was only $7.34 for over 11 hours of raw animal magnetism.... Pack style.

Great Book Under $8

Dark Instincts is the fourth book in the Phoenix Pack novels. This book is a continuation of the witty, snarky, and really well written sagas that follow pack members from the Phoenix Pack, as well as their allies in the Mercury Pack and the Ryland Pack. Dark Instincts focuses on Roni and Marcus. Both are individuals who have overcome damaging pasts and are fiercely loyal to the few people they now call friends. Marcus is gorgeous and flirts while Roni is the antithesis of “girly” and has a habit of spouting off obscure facts to make people stop talking to her. Both are more than they appear and when they are forced to work together they eventually find that out. I really enjoy these books for a number of reasons. They have really good continuity with the story lines flowing from one book to another without losing the stand alone aspect. I love not only the H/h relationships but the supporting casts also. The men are not just stupid good looking jocks while the women primp and pose. These characters get pissy, fight and argue with each other and remind you of your best friend - the one that ends up sitting next to you in jail, not the one you call to bail you out. The author has a tremendous talent for humor and snark and frequently elicits snorts and unexpected gafaws from the reader while keeping the action going. This is a terrific series that I totally recommend.

Jill Redfield is one of my favourite narrators and she was oustanding in the delivery of the story

What did I say?

What a delight. I love this author. Her books are always refreshing. This was a great continuation of the Phoenix pack characters.

Marcus, the enforcer and his true mate, Roni, also an enforcer, makes for another great story in this series. Lots of banter back and forth, pasts being dealt with, and love being shared. And let's not forget the humor. She always writes sassy females with great come back lines. Love the story and the narrator.

The wolf pack versus the jackels....

Two packs, lots of characters, hard to keep up. This listen was ok for me, the storyline was a bit different but the mating continues, this time it is Marcus and Rony. Jill Redfield does an amazing job trying to keep all the characters recognizable but it is becoming difficult to keep up with everyone. Sale buy only!

Tough SHE-wolf with a delicate side rarely exposed

Love this book! I enjoy reading about strong women who can still be female. Often times books are written to make one think women don't need men. This books was written to show women came be dominant without being domineering.

Strength in women can happen without turning into a bitch (no pun intended) and without earning strength through hard living. This author understands different types of women and shows an inner strength that does not stifle the male role but enhances it... I love that!

Don't waste your credit

Wolf shifters hate Jackyl shifters and Jackyl shifters hate Wolf shifters. Throw in a whole lot of sex scenes a whole lot of fight scenes, very little plot and you have this book.
