Publisher's summary

Love is a risk worth taking in this sizzling romance about secrets and second chances...

Scarlett Devereaux’s life on the Gulf Coast went from riches to rags so scandalously fast that she barely had time to kiss her Jimmy Choos goodbye. Now, with a new alias (Lily Barns), a new budget (tighter than a pair of Spanx), and a new job on the vacation island of Angel Fire Falls, she’s daring to reinvent herself.

Single dad Trace Remington is devoted first and foremost to raising his young son, who has Asperger’s. With flying his floatplane and salvaging his family’s island resort too, he has time for little else. His brothers think he needs a break from his all-work-no-play lifestyle, so they goad him into action. In response to their dare, Trace asks a sexy tourist for her number, only to discover afterward that she’s the resort’s brilliant new hospitality manager.

The sparks of flirtation soon ignite into a flame too hot to ignore. But Lily and Trace both have pasts that threaten to tear them apart. Now, they’ll need to admit their secrets to each other...or risk ending their relationship before it really begins.

Family, rejection, resilience and true love

Another masterpiece by Shelly Alexander. I thought “it is in his heart” was her one of her best work, but that was until this. The storyline, the setting, characters and the plot were all A+++. I read slowly because I never wanted it to end.......a very entertaining and fulfilling read. Definitely worth my money!

Great overall!

I really enjoyed this story. The author gave life to each character-even the not so major characters. I felt that it was well written when it came to incorporating the challenges of raising a child with special needs to the diplomatic ways Lily approached every issue (that came up with relationships or her job). Part of every chapter was well thought out. I will definitely follow Shelly Alexander and all the books she produces.

Excellent Story!

4.5 Stars for me!

I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end and am impressed with the world the author built. I know that lots of people don't like the evil-ex being a part of the storyline but it was done in a minimal way and did not bury the story. The only thing I took 0.5 stars away from my rating is that the 'lie' went on too long; however, even that was handled well.

I already have the second book queued up to listen to and will start it now.

Feel Good

This book just felt right, sweet, sincere and sexy! Just the right amount of drama without over the top sexual detail.

Scarlett and the pilot

Scarlett Deveraeux is a woman scorned...sort of. Her father is in prison for embezzlement of FEMA funds after Hurricane Katrina and her fiance' dumped and then fired her from her job at a prestigious hotel. Now, she has assumed a new identity, using her middle name and mother's maiden name...introducing: Lily Barnes, new hospitality manager of The Remington Resort on Angel Fire Falls island! Single father and pilot, Trace Remington, co-owns The Remington with his father and brothers and is not pleased with his father's decision to hire a hospitality manager. He is even more convinced of this when he shows up at the airport to meet her and she is a no-show. The only good thing on that trip is his encounter with a sexy woman who was getting a massage...he also happened to sneak her phone number to win a bet with his brothers. Lily is put off that no one from The Remington bothered to meet her at the airport, but she's resourceful so, upon her arrival on the small island, Lily rents a tricycle. She loads up her expensive luggage and starts pedaling her way to the resort. Of course her ride turns into an adventure when she rescues some ducklings...in the middle of a storm. Her first meeting with Trace is, naturally, when she's soaking wet and has an armful or ducklings in the bicycle basket...in a nest of her underwear...lol. First things seem to spiral out of control but then Lily, with her take-charge attitude, begins to make positive changes to The Remington, and impressing the heck out of Trace. However, Trace has a special needs son, and he is not happy when Ben takes 'a liking' to Lily and grows attached to the ducklings. Throw in Lily's secret past, Trace's ex and persnickety guests and you have a recipe for laughs, drama and mystery. The chemistry between Trace and Lily is smoking haawt and we really root for this duo to have an HEA...but can they, will they? You'll have to read to find out!
The author does a wonderful job of balancing the chemistry, secrets, drama and humor...one minute you're laughing, the next you're grabbing the tissues. The new-to-me narrator is awesome...the transition between characters was flawless and the delivery of the humor was spot on. Guess you can say that I enjoyed this book...lol...and am looking forward to catching up with the rest of the Remington clan in future books.
